It’s so crazy to think that over a year ago I signed up and started packing for a trip of a lifetime! Here I am now halfway through the 9 months in Malawi realizing just how much God has blessed me! So here is a list of four things the Lord has taught me in the last 4 months:

1. Be Prepared For Anything!

This month we were paired off and thrown into a high school English class without any curriculum. We finally found some books, but we ourselves must come up with the lessons each day. So many times on the race we have been expected to do something on the spot with no preparation. But that’s part of the fun! The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 4:2 to be prepared in and out of season. You never know what life will throw at you, but if you continue to seek after God He will never let you down. This also requires complete faith and trust in what God is doing, and a willingness to completely surrender.

2. We Are Hope!

God called us to be his disciples. A Christian’s blessed hope is the return of our savior and the fact we will live with him in eternity. It’s our job to spread the hope in this dying world!

3.Love Unconditionally!

What does love look like? Love is so many things! Serving, witnessing, sharing, laughing, putting others before oneself. Over the past few months I have experienced love in ways I never knew existed! I found love looking into the eyes of innocent children awaiting my next move. I found it in the conversations I had with people on the streets. I found love while serving and being served.

4. Perseverance!

There is only four months left before returning home. It will be a tough transition, and it’s easy to slack off knowing the end is drawing near. But it’s not the end! God is calling us to seek him each and every day of our lives! There is no end to seeking after God and serving him!

These are only a few examples of the way God has been working, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for the next four and a half months!
