A couple blogs ago, I wrote a one about a key I received at launch. Basically, a man made each and every racer at launch a key with a word or verse on it. He prayed over each one and asked that the key goes to who God feels, needs it. Then, when I find someone on the race that I believe should have it, I give it to them. The key I received had the verse Romans 1:16 on it ( For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it brings salvation to everyone who believes it.) After being on the race for 2 month, I finally gave my key away.
The second night in Haiti our translator, Alex came over and shared why he preaches the gospel. He said how he does not care what people think of him because he is here to share Gods word. He also said how he loves reaching out to children because they are the next generation and that they can go home and tell their parents. One of the children went home and told his parents about Alex and how Alex taught him about Jesus and then ended up getting baptized because of it. Alex was our translator for the past month. One thing I realized was we tell him something to say to the people, sometimes he will go on and on in Creole. Usually he says how he told them exactly what we said but added more too it to make it either relatable to the person or to show them the power of God. I just find it so amazing that on the spot he is able to come up with everything to say, perfectly! On the last night in Haiti, he stopped over along with our ministry host, Gary. Gary wanted to share his testimony with us and tell us how much we mean to him while Alex translated. Once Gary was finished we asked Alex about his testimony and if he would like to share his. He told us before he shared that his testimony is sad and dark but who are we to judge! He shared his testimony and how he came to know the Lord and it was amazing! After he was done sharing and started saying his goodbyes, I went up to him with my key. I told him I had a present for him and he said “don’t make me cry!” I went on to explain what the key is and how I believe he deserves this key because everyday he lives out that verse. I’ve never seen anyone so enthusiastic about sharing Gods word until I met Alex! So next time any of y’all decided to take a trip to Haiti, make sure to give him a call because he’s a good guy and he will show you what loving the Lord looks like!
