The word ministry can mean so many different things. And for me this year it has meant about 1,000 different things. I want to share what ministry has looked like from month to month.
South America
Chile:
In Santiago our ministry was wild… just about anything and everything you can think of. Yes that’s what we did. We did house visits where we shared words from God, verses we felt were on our heart and prayed over the people we met. We met with the women once a week and just talked about all things God and life, we also did youth ministry on Friday nights that included a bible study and worship. On the weekends we led children’s ministry and then on Sundays preached, shared testimonies and sang in front of the church! A GREAT way to start the Race, thanks pastor David!
Argentina:
Month 2 was ALL SQUAD MONTH and we stayed at a YWAM base. There we did anything our hosts needed. From moving a greenhouse, to prayer ministry, to door to door evangelism, to sharing our testimonies in front of a church.
Bolivia:
Oh man this was cool, we got to stay at a compassion center where people in the States support children who don’t have enough money! We taught English to some youngsters and played some sports with them. We also went to churches around the city on weekends and hosted children’s ministry events. We basically walked around knocking on people’s doors in clown costumes and invited kids to come play with us, learn a bible story and get some snacks!
A few of us shared testimonies and preached on the weekends. It was a lot of sharing about how God has worked in our lives.
ASIA
Cambodia:
We stayed in a little village in Cambodia where we taught English daily at a school down the road. We taught twice a day, and then taught English to the family we were living with! We had to make our own curriculum and threw some Jesus songs and bible verses into the curriculum, GOD BLESS YOU!
Thailand:
This month was for sure different, but I loved it. My new team and I painted a hostel for the whole month. Our teacher, Phil, taught us how to paint professionally. So we painted everyday for about 5 hours, painting the rooms of the hostel! We finished the entire hostel in three weeks! Manual labor man…
EUROPE
Serbia:
This month has been a lot of relationship making, we have been going out and meeting with people. Just spreading the love of God through the gifts he has given us. In the morning we go on prayer walks for two hours. At night we have friends over to hangout, talk and play games. A few of us have had extra jobs, whether it be teaching softball, hosting a photography event (which I taught!), marketing for the church, cooking and hospitality or women’s ministry. Then on the weekends we run the church service… songs, poems, testimonies and sermons!
So this is what I been doing for the past six months. It sure has been a journey and I have truly loved it! I have learned so much and been challenged in ways I never thought were possible! Here’s to five more months on the Race!
Ciao for now!!
