HAHA, is all I think when I think about some of the things that happen to me or some of the things I say. If you know me you know that I love to laugh, especially at myself. And there are times when I just need to laugh because it’s funny. Life is funny.

First off, we made it to Chile last Wednesday, and my team and I are currently staying in a small church in a suburb of Santiago. We are surrounded by the Andes mountains, no not the candy, the real life mountains! We have been doing all sorts of ministry, from prayer hours to dancing with children, to singing and worshipping with the church, to ministering to teenagers on Friday nights.

But what I want to share are some of the funny things that have happened over the past couple of days here in CHILE.

  1. First of all, I took about 3 years of Spanish in high school, but all of that knowledge seems to have slipped from my mind. So the language barrier has been interesting to navigate. Well it seems to be that I like to talk in my own language, mixing a small amount of Spanish with a lot of English. My teammates call it “Samglish” and I’m thinking about making it a new language…

  2. Well that being said the second night we got here at about 11 pm we were settled into bed and started to hear this scuffling…and let me tell you we all froze. Wondering what it could be, my teammate Sarah said “did you hear that?” and we all said yes. My teammates and I all proceeded to move our beds to the center of the room, away from the walls. So we have some mice friends in the wall, we named one of them Edgar and tell each other before bed that they are “just moving furniture around” aka a way to calm our nerves that the mice won’t come into our room.

  3. We were introducing ourselves to the church in Spanish, and it was my turn to share… me being myself said “Call me is Sam” when I was trying to say “My name is Sam”, the people at the church laughed, meanwhile I had no idea why they were laughing. This was a time that I just had to laugh!

  4. My teammate Tiffany and I went to one of the church members houses for lunch, and we walked into the house. There waiting for us was a sheep with a diaper on, his name is Dominga and he has osteoporosis. He is the cutest little thing and canters around the house like a horse.

These are just some of the fun times we have been having this past week! Stay tuned for more…

Much Love!!!
