Sometimes words are hard…
They don’t always describe exactly how you’re feeling. But they can also be the most powerful things in the world. It’s similar to when people say that a picture is worth a thousand words, I think words are worth a thousand words.
I don’t have the words to describe this past year, in how much I have learned, how many emotions I have felt, how much God has blessed me, how many people have poured into me and loved me. It’s like I have lived 10 years in one year.. I guess that’s how God’s timing is.
“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the LORD a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” -2 Peter 3:8
It’s so true… when you start living for the Lord it’s like time is not something you calculate anymore, wondering how long your appointment will take, or how long you will sit in traffic, wondering how many years you have to live.
Time is something I am learning to cherish.
At church this weekend the sermon talked about following what the Lord has in store for us, and a key point that stuck with me was that “children need a lot of adults and people in their life to raise them.” Not only that but that the people around you shape the person you are, they affect the way you think, act and talk. So I thought back to my childhood and even to this past year with all the people and older adults who have been in my life. I have my parents, siblings, two sets of grandparents, aunts and uncles (too many to count), friends, mentors, teachers, random people I have met and talked with. Every single one of you is important to me and have contributed to the person I am today. So thank you!
It’s cool to think about all of the people in my life and really see how much they have done, and how much God has provided for me. This past year especially…
-I want to thank my parents for pushing me, loving me and supporting me with everything I have done and will continue to do. For raising me even in the midst of hardship.
-I want to thank my sister and brother for being my constants, loving me always and keeping me laughing (you guys are my best friends)
-I want to thank all of my best friends (you know who you are), you guys have pushed me to be a better person, given me laughter, supported me when I was down, and have become my family for life!
-I want to thank my grandparents for their continual advice, support and love throughout my life
-I want to thank the Waddell family for taking me in this summer, giving me advice, loving me and supporting me always, you are truly amazing people.
-I want to thank every single person who has had an impact on my life and supported me in this World Race trip, and in every step of my life
-Most of all I want to thank God for all of these people and everything he has given me, I am truly blessed by you Lord!
God gives us people to do life with, I cherish the people in my life and will continue to love you all and pray for you guys as I journey through this year. I can’t wait to share this journey with you all. I am excited about getting to know my World Race friends, and meeting more people around the World who will shape me and push me closer to God. It’s not a goodbye it’s a see you later.
Words are worth a thousand words, so share them with others!
Next stop… CHILE!
