He has done it! He has done it again folks!
God has blown me away, once again. I am continuously in awe at the way God shows up for me.
My last blog may have come off a little dark and depressing, but hey, some days are harder than others out here. I am so thankful that the Lord provided me the strength to persevere through that tough start in Seattle.
So I’ll pick up where I left off. Right after I landed back in the states like a newborn giraffe. I finally got my feet under me, and began to walk confidently and peacefully again. The Lord provided me a place to stay in Seattle, and things were looking up.
Seattle
I was staying with a youth pastor and his intern. They were great guys and having a free place to stay was a huge blessing to me. My last few days in Seattle were not the greatest. I still had the awkward walk of that baby giraffe, but I was standing taller. I did a few hikes, and prayer walks that helped me get my feet back under me. I was still dealing with some hard stuff, but I was on the upward slope.
One of my last days in Seattle I walked past a guy in a wheelchair, he was holding up a cardboard sign asking for help. I walked right past him and immediately felt that familiar feeling in my heart. That feeling I’ve mentioned countless times in my previous blogs. It was The Holy Spirit! Now, I was tired after walking all day and it was getting cold. (Yes Seattle gets cold in June.)
I just wanted to get back to the warm house and watch Netflix. BUT GOD, quickly reminded me that I’m a servant when He so gently called me to talk to the man in the wheelchair. I went over and introduced myself, then bought him his favorite snack and drink from the gas station next to us. His face lit up as I sat next to him and let him know that I was invested. We talked for about an hour about our lives and I was even able to share Jesus with him. I prayed for him and He thanked me for everything. It was a beautiful moment sitting on the corner with him and Jesus.
Shortly after that I ran into an interesting couple. They had tattoos from head to toe, kept scratching themselves, and were rather twitchy. Now, I’ve watched enough “COPS” to know that they were not sober. They asked if I had any cash, I said no and kept walking. I then remembered I still had some Indonesian rupiah! I turned and shouted…
“Hey wait! I actually do have some cash!”
They hurried over excitedly.
I showed them the rupiah, and explained to them that it was worth absolutely nothing. I shared with them how I got that money, and told them I had been sharing Jesus around the world. I said I wanted them to have it, and for them to think about Jesus every time they look at it. They thought that money was the coolest thing ever. They were pretty out of their minds, but I can only hope and pray that the moment I had with them was impactful in some way. Please join me in prayer for them.
After that, God provided kind hearts to get me from Washington to Oregon. I was instantly blown away at Oregon’s endless beauty. I spent a couple days in Portland and struggled with a few unfortunate situations, but I learned and grew a lot through it.
Oregon
I finally made my way to Sisters,Oregon! I stayed with Linda, who is a relative of one of my friends from my home church. I stayed in an old camper just outside of Linda’s house. It was out in the country with a breathtaking view of snow capped mountains that never got old. My time in Oregon was absolutely incredible to say the least. Me, my friend who was joining me, and Linda had amazing fellowship, food and fun! Her hospitality was a true spiritual gift and we didn’t want to leave. The town of Sisters was beautiful, and my favorite moment was meeting an artist who turned out to be a Christian! He was on fire for the Lord, and extremely talented. I took his card and let him know I’d be praying for him. The memories, beauty of the nature and people in Oregon stole my heart, sorry Texas.
I am now in Denver, Colorado and I’m halfway through my journey evangelizing and relying on God’s provision to get me across the country. I am doing great! It’s still hard at times but I am well rested, and on fire for Jesus! No more baby giraffe! It’s been a true growth experience. I hope these stories can be an encouragement to y’all to view every moment as a mission. I hope you will be encouraged to share Jesus wherever you are through actions, or words. Let the world around you see Jesus in you.
I’ll write a blog soon about the rest of my journey. God has used our brothers and sisters in Christ to get my transportation and housing covered from here to Georgia! Hallelujah! Thank you all for your constant prayers and support. God bless!
