I’ve been off the grid for a while. So much has happened since my last blog about Nepal. A month in India has passed and an exciting month in Thailand has begun. So here’s my update on what happened in India. My month of peace.
As the rooster crows, my eyes are gently opened by the warm touch of the morning sun. The air is cool, and filled with a pleasant scent of hay and manure.
The morning dew refreshingly greets my skin as I step out of my tent. I splash water on my face from my bottle, and have a nice stretch with a smile. Then I thank The Lord for my life as I instantly feel his presence.
As I sit to have my time with Jesus, I am pleasantly and intentionally welcomed by 10 boys. They have a playful attitude as they prepare themselves for school, and accomplish an impressive amount of chores.
As I sit and reflect on Gods word, an incredibly hospitable and loving host delivers me a warm cup of tea. There is a man climbing a palm tree in the distance. I am easily entertained as I sip my tea and watch him collect sap. Life is good, God is better, and I absolutely love my life and my father.
This is just a glimpse into how absolutely amazing India was. My team and I were in a rural village, surrounded by livestock, rice and cotton fields. Our hosts were amazing servants of God. They had an incredible perspective on parenthood as they took in 10 boys as their own. They humbly served God by serving the children. They also had 2 children of their own which they treated as equals. Our team quickly recognized this atmosphere as ministry.
We loved building strong relationships with this family, and even grew tremendously in community as a team. Each night we’d travel to other villages shining the light of Jesus. We allowed God to speak through us, our words and testimonies were powerful. We were served so well by those we visited, and never had an excuse to be hungry. (Spiritually or physically.)
Only God knows the amount of our rice intake throughout the month. We powered through pounds of rice and a wide range of Indian spices. I developed a strange love for curry.
Our shower was a bucket complete with cup, inches away from our toilet. Which was a hole in the ground with foot grips to help support as you squat.
This was a month to remember. I was filled with peace each day as I learned to walk more confidently in intimacy, community and missions. I appreciate all of you who read my blogs and who have supported me in prayer. Keep the prayers coming!
I am now in Thailand and it’s going to be an exciting month!
