To be wild, one must also be free.
WILD, uncontrolled or unrestrained.
FREEDOM, the state of NOT being imprisoned or enslaved.
From the time I took my first breath in this beautifully created world, an unstoppable desire to be wild and free has been growing inside of me. Unfortunately I was born into a sinful world, and became controlled and enslaved by sin. Let me say this, when one is born to be wild, and born into sin, it is a dangerous recipe for disaster. Don’t get me wrong, being wild and free can be incredible. It becomes tragic when you mix it with sin. Because of this fact, I lived 22 years of my life feeling helpless. “How can I be wild and free without sinning?”
As far back as I can remember, every time I tried to feed my wild side it got me into trouble. Most of us view being wild and free as being a rule breaker, an outlaw. This is because without a relationship with Jesus we are blind. This blindness is what made me feel helpless. Before I accepted Jesus as my savior, living a sinful life was the only way I could live wild and free. I awakened my wild side with parties, drugs, women and fights. These things definitely made me feel wild and free, but only temporarily. That being said, I was still helpless and still blind.
Now, when you are seeking freedom, and trying to be wild as a helpless blind man, you tend to fall a lot. Picture a helpless, blind stallion galloping through the western terrain. What happens to him? I’ll tell you what happens to him. He gets hurt! He falls, bumps into things and eventually ends up so lost that he doesn’t even want to be alive anymore. ATTENTION READERS! I was that stallion. All I wanted was to be wild and free. I fell into a life of parties and fights, bumped into a few broken hearts and jail cells, and eventually ended up so lost that I didn’t want to be alive anymore.
If you were that blind helpless stallion what’s the one thing you would want more than anything in the world? To have the ability to see, obviously! How can a world full of helpless blind “stallions” open their eyes to see? They must first realize they are blind. Now, because that wild stallion is in our hearts, the blindness is in our hearts as well. We have to first, accept that we are blind. Only then, can we invite the HEALER of the blind into our hearts. Once we invite the healing savior into our hearts, something incredible happens. We can see! And it ain’t pretty! We see how lost we are. We see our bumps and bruises. We see the nasty mess our blindness has led us into, but we are no longer blind. Therefore, we can slowly get out of the mess our blindness led us to. We can now learn to be wild and free without getting lost.
This brings me back to my question.
“How can I be wild and free without sinning?” The answer is JESUS! He is the healer, the savior! In John 9 He literally heals the blind! When I invited Jesus into my heart and accepted Him as my savior, I could see clearly! What I saw was an ugly mess! I saw bumps and bruises. Jesus got me out of that mess and healed my wounds.
I am now proud to say that through Jesus, I have learned to be wild and free without sin!
The wild stallion is free from sin! He is galloping through the rough terrain of the world with a purpose. A purposeful mission to tell every blind stallion he sees about the good news of the great HEALER! The SAVIOR that allowed him to be wild and free without getting lost.
I will run wild and free through the rough terrain of this sinful world. Telling the lost people the good news of Jesus, my healer! I won’t stop until the whole world hears! Praise God that I am no longer blind! Glory to God! Hallelujah!
Galatians 5:13 “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” ….
Freedom, or license to sin, is no freedom at all. Because it enslaves you to Satan, others, or your own sinful nature. Christians should not be slaves to sin because they are free to do what’s right and glorify God through loving service to others.
