In our last blog we talked about the different ministries and specifically the feeding ministry here in the Philippines. KIDS International Ministry has been building relationships and progressing their feeding programs so well, that they want new partners and new feeding locations…
As a squad, this is why we were brought to Manila; to further this ministry and to go around the communities nearby to find possible feeding sights. Just a few days ago myself and another squad mate (A.J.) were chosen to help lead the program and to revisit contacts that were made and form partnerships.
For the past two days, we have been revisiting churches in the area, talking with pastors, and sharing KIM’s vision for the feeding program.
So far we are 3 for 3!
All three churches we have visited have welcomed us and the idea of a feeding program with open arms. Today we visited a church in a nearby village and the pastor was so welcoming! He opened his church up for us; brought us fresh baked bread and water, and listened intently as we discussed the program and how God has been using it to bring the neighborhood children in to learn more about Jesus. As a matter of fact, the pastor was so excited and on board that he guided us to the next neighborhood over from his to a tiny church and introduced us to a pastora.
Mila was her name and let me just say she was on fire for the Lord, she also welcomed us in to her tiny house that doubled as the neighborhood church. She talked to us about her family, her neighborhood, and her ministry and before we knew it we were discussing how we could bring our feeding program into her church. Starting this Saturday these two churches will host a bible study for all the neighborhood children and will be feed them as part of our feeding program.
It has been amazing to see Gods hands at work in these impoverished neighborhoods. Please pray for us as we continue to seek out partnerships in this city and pray that not only would these kids be given food to nourish their bodies but that the bible studies and activities that go along with the feedings would open their hearts to Jesus and change their lives through Him.
