Well we are 1 step closer to launch, Ryan and I spent October 18-28 in Gainsville Georgia at training camp to prepare us for our trip…

Training camp is hard to describe…its a crossover between church camp and boot camp, here let me try to paint a picture for you…

The Boot Camp side:

-Early morning wake up calls to work out

-No showers: just a bucket and a cup, picture my thick hair after 10 days of that, ha! (also only port-a-potties)

-Most prevalent food/meal: Rice

-Fitness test: 2.9 mile hike (with hills) with our big packs and timed

The Church Camp side:

-We heard from and were taught to by lots of amazing speakers…its hard to pick a favorite take away… I would have to say that I was most impacted by hearing each speakers life story/ testimony; I loved hearing them tell how they saw God’s plan unfold throughout their lives even when they weren’t quite sure they understood why things were going they way they were in the moment.

-Daily worship and team building in which we were encouraged to really open up to and be vulnerable with our teammates…speaking of team mates…

Our “squad” is about 30 people but we also got broken up into our smaller teams of 6 that we will be traveling with; here is our little world race family: Ryan, Ramisha, Me, Mia, Michael, and Vanessa. We really feel that God hand picked these guys to be our partners and we are excited to get to know them all even better! (moms excited cause Michael is an ER nurse…score :P)

Ill end with a little appreciation shout out: it was funny people kept saying things like “wow, that’s so brave that you and Ryan are doing this together” and I’m thinking “not even, I would have to be way braver to do it alone!”

I’m just so grateful we get to do this thing together and and I’m thankful for Ryan’s selflessness and for the way he encourages me and points me back to God and His faithfulness when I’m feeling down, discouraged or anxious.

Oh, also if you have a husband you can have him carry the tent in his back pack so that’s a perk too.
