Where are all the old souls? I find myself asking this question a lot lately! I feel that god has almost slipped up by mistake and put me in a generation 40 years sooner then was intended. I have just always wanted to break the “Cookie Cutter” mold that everyone naturally forms to. In our society most people chase the popular thing even if it isn’t the right thing. Matthew 7:13-14 reads,“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
It pains me to see that some people just don’t have the drive to ask the questions that eat at us everyday. The questions that feed on your insecurities and sometimes never get addressed you feel. But each day god gives me wisdom from being the odd man out and through the suffering of my past present. He helps me to see the people suffering and know at least which direction to point them to find their answer. Each day I know I will have forever more to learn because god cannot stop sweeping me off my feet. At times I feel I cannot hold on any longer and he takes the overbearing load off my shoulders forever saving me in the nick of time. Proverbs 3:5-6 reads, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.”
Then I figured it out. All of us will have the ground breaking moment that you can never see anything the same. Where your priorities and passions switch and your heart softens to a higher level of understanding. For the broken and needy even if it isn’t in the typical ways we anticipate. Its a threshold of sorts where you feel things more intensely. This may hurt you more; However, it drives you to gain understanding to share with others. God has a plan for when we all will turn into old souls; Furthermore, when it happens you cannot ever turn your back on it. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
