My best friend, Trent, reminded me of something that happened to me.

In the summer of 2011, I decided to attend an in-town mission trip at Mountaintop Community Church. This is basically a mission trip for middle schoolers, preparing us for high school mission trips. In the mornings we volunteered for pre-school VBS. In the afternoons we went to food banks, did community services, or Med-Missions.

One morning I woke up restless and only had an orange for breakfast. We headed up to the main building to be assigned to our rooms. Trenton and I were in a room together. The adults were telling a bible story that had something to do with fire. Trenton and I were in the back of the room and I apparently made a loud screaming sound, I fell on the floor and started shaking. I was having a seizure.

A little bit before my seizure, two kids had bumped heads and the ambulance was called. The kids were fine, only bruised heads. The paramedics started heading out but Scott (youth pastor) ran as fast as he could to catch them. He had to dodge and push aside every little kid but eventually got to them. I ended up getting put on a gurney. As I was getting pushed out of the building, I was apparently waving which made people feel better.

All my friends were crying as I left, it was indeed a scary situation. Soon to come, people would come to realize that God was watching over me. The paramedics didn’t think I needed to be rushed to the hospital with the sirens on. I didn’t stay long but I was sent home. I wanted to go back to everyone but I needed a days rest.

They continued to finish off the day by going to Med-Missions because it was a cloudy/rainy day. Med-Missions is a warehouse full of medical supplies to be sent out to people in need. Usually we sort things and build racks. Med-Mission was located in Homewood/Birmingham. The two guys who are usually working their go to Mountaintop. Med-Missions had a prayer wall. One specific name was on the wall, my mom. Courtney Richardson, who had passed away April 5th 2011. Once the team got to Med-Missions, they saw my whole family up on the wall.

I ended up having 4 more seizures. I had to get a couple of EEG’s and take medicine for about 2 years. I am seizure free since December of 2012.

2011 was a crazy year but I somehow knew God was always with me.
