Got to Albania. They said “You teach English one hour a week, you go to a prison once a week, and you have a church service you run on Saturday nights. Other than that, make friends! Tell people about Jesus! Live!”
Ya know, the world race is hard. There are so many unanswered questions and unknowns. Ministry has been one of those things that has been certain on this race. After about a week in each country, we WOULD be able to create some sort of structure and normalcy.
Here, that is not the case. We have a crazy amount of free time that we get to choose what we do with. And it’s really hard on a lot of days because I really don’t know what to classify as ‘ministry’.
Truly, some days it’s so hard to wake up with motivation and passion. With a plan. With strive to go tell somebody about Jesus. It feels discouraging on days we attempt to just “go” and see no immediate benefits. Having no start to finish tasks. And other days it comes so naturally. We dream about what we could do and how we could get people to our church!
But as we live here longer, I’ve come to realize what a gift our last ministry on the race really is. We get to know the people at our gym, on the bus, in the grocery store, in the coffee shop, and in the city. Just by simply living. Present and aware. And how freaking GREAT it is that we CAN create plans involving worship on the street, going to coffee with our new friends, creating community outreaches at our church, and whatever odds and ends Jesus gives us new ideas for everyday.
SO pray. Pray for my team. That we would see kingdom and that people would be able to see and feel Jesus in us. Pray that we would finish out strong as a team. That we would be able to build a community within our church that would be able to withhold itself by the time we leave. Pray that the enemy WILL NOT have a foothold in our team and that we would continue to hear Jesus’ voice LOUDLY in what He wants us to do. Because these moments aren’t ours. They’re our heavenly fathers and we want to accomplish all He has for us while we’re here.
