To be honest I have never really liked Valentines Day. I feel like its cheese ball and also that you should love your people on any given day of the year, and I know I have never been dating anyone on valentines day so it means less for us single people in the world. But you guys, the world race has officially redefined Valentines Day for me.
We got up this morning and people left and right were giving notes of encouragement and treats to one another. (yes cheese ball but I kinda loved it) Then we were getting ready to leave for ministry and we were called downstairs to flowers and chocolate from our boys on our team who are away at manistry for the month. They left behind notes and money for people to arrange to make us feel special on Valentines Day.
THEN we went to ministry and walked in saying to all of our students “happy valentines day!” to which they responded “happy birthday you too!” oh the deep joy that comes with confusion in miscommunication. After we went to ministry in the morning we went out and with all of our supporters help, we raised enough money to hand out flowers and cards with scripture to anyone and everyone in the city of Battambang, Cambodia! You should’ve seen the joy on their faces! It was amazing and I’ve officially decided I will be making it a tradition no matter where I’m at in this world.
So yeah, I’m officially a Valentines Day fan. Not because of the day itself, but because of the fact that its an excuse to anyone in this world who celebrates it, to just simply love. To be the smile with flowers in hand. And truly it encouraged me to do the things I did on this day regularly. For no apparent reason. I absolutely loved it, and I loved the people I got to spend it with.
