Sentence blog 10 of 11!
Fun fact: this month was the longest amount of time we stayed in any country! And we only have one more country left!
6/30/18 – last night we had to stay outside of the terminal until 3am. So we slept/hung out outside all night. But we made it on our flight and arrived in Medan around 8:30am where we met our host Pastor David! I’m excited to see how we can serve alongside the Lord here in Medan, Indonesia at the Church of Elim!
7/1/18 – my friend and I got asked to do Sunday school last minute so we went in and played some games and told a story! At the end, we celebrated 2 birthdays and instead of feeding the cake to the little girls like you are culturally supposed to, we ignorantly are it and got laughed at but all was good!
7/2/18 – today was an off day so we went to the mall and just hung out as a team! We found a gym and spent $50 so we would have a place to work out… a place to shower in western showers.
7/3/18 – we went to see Jurassic World 2 for Ally’s birthday!
7/4/18 – first day of ministry!!! We got to run an English program for kids and discovered they have the same alphabet as us and love boom chicks boom.
7/5/18 – this morning we got to visit a hospital and hear the directors testimony and pray for him and his hospital! Also found a place that makes great chocolate milk.
7/6/18 – today we did 2 house visits and got to pray for healing for a couple people. And we got served the spiciest food ever!!
7/7/18 – this evening we had a prayer meeting and were able to pray and worship with members of the church!
7/8/18 – after church, we went to a church member’s house and hung out and ate a meal for the 40th day of mourning for a bit who had passed away. And in the evening we got to eat and play games with our host family!
7/9/18 – made it to Lake Toba today! It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place.
7/10/18 – listened to Pastor Dave’s teachings and learned SO much! It really reignited my passion to learn more the Lord!
7/11/18 – similar to yesterday we sat in teachings Pastor Dave was doing for a church near the lake! We also got to celebrate Hosanna’s 7th birthday and this time I fed her the cake instead of eating it.
7/12/18 – today we rode a ferry over to a different island to cut time off our travel and on our way home we stopped to take pictures at a viewpoint and ride a giant swing!!
7/13/18 – woke up feeling sick and went to the doctor. Found out I have a 104 degree fever but got some medicine to help!
7/14/18 – still had a slight fever today so I didn’t get to do ministry which was a bummer. My team went and preached at a church and I heard they did a great job!
7/15/18 – off day! So we watched Ant Man and Wasp Girl today! And Pastor David took us around the city to show us around a bit! It was so fun!
7/16/18 – today I got a much needed haircut and got to hang out with the team!
7/17/18 – went to the village to do a kids ministry today and it was so fun to play games, teach them English, and tell them Bible stories! They all participated and we had a great time!
7/18/18 – tonight we did a service for children at a church and at the end asked if any of them wanted us to pray and all 60 kids came up! We had the honor to pray for all of the kids!
7/19/18 – this afternoon we got to do another English program for the kids in our neighborhood – which was great! We taught them body parts and animals! And then we went to a Western Buffet for dinner with our hosts which was incredible!
7/20/18 – this evening we were under the impression that we were going to a church to hear Pastor Dave teach but when we got there, there were like 50 kids! So we ended up doing an impromptu kids program with games and Bible stories. We are pros with kids by now.
7/21/18 – this evening we did a youth service at a friend of Pastor David’s. It was cool to be able to teach and interact with people our age and see their faith for the Lord so clearly!
7/22/18 – I got sick again today and we are pretty sure it is because of the school so I was down for the count and spent most of the day resting.
7/23/18 – off day! We went to the mall and saw Mama Mia: Here it Goes Again! Would recommend. It’s such a fun movie!
7/24/18 – went to a waterfall with Pastor David today and it was beautiful! On one side, you could overlook a lake and on the other you could hike down to the bottom of the waterfall! And afterwards, we went to visit and hang out with one of Pastor David’s friends and got plenty of snacks and treats!
7/25/18 – got to do the English program with our neighborhood kids again! It’s cool to be able to build a relationship with these kids and see them around the neighborhood and talk to them and give them high fives!
7/26/18 – the last English program was this afternoon. We tried to make it memorable with review games and picture taking at the end. The kids even taught us a new dance! And this evening the church had a going away party for us and got all of mugs with pictures on them! So sweet!
7/27/18 – left Medan today and took a flight to Jakarta. It was sad to leave our hosts and hard to believe we are about to go to our last country!
7/28/18 – a few days ago, our flight to Manila got cancelled by the airline and then rebooked for the 29th so we spent the day in Jakarta. We went to the mall and they had an Auntie Anne’s!!!
7/29/18 – today we flew to Manila and arrived at our ministry site: Kids International Ministries. I am pumped to see what the Lord has in store for us this last month of the race and feel so blessed to be here!!!
Please pray for my squad and I as we spend the last month of this journey in the Philippines!
