Hey peeps. So i’m leaving for the World Race tomorrow!!! I usually wait till the night before to pack but thought I would plan this one out to help future racers/travelers. If you’re like me, you have a pretty short attention span when it comes to reading extensive packing lists, so i thought one with photos would be a little easier to read! Enjoy 🙂

GEAR:

Packing cubes—so prime for packing your clothes
Tent & sleeping bag—use compression sacks for these to make them as small as possible
Sleeping bag liner—good to use in warmer places and just keeps your sleeping bag cleaner!
Pillow—honestly don’t think I’ll regret bringing a full sized pillow. Willing to sacrifice space for a good night sleep
Sea to summit pocket towels
Sleeping pad—some of my squad mates brought comfier ones but they’re bulkier
Spork & foldable bowl—for the months that we prepare our own food
Rain cover—I didn’t buy an airporter to use over my pack, so I’ll probs just use this
Paracord—good for hanging laundry!
Hammock
Headlamp
Water bottle

(Not Pictured) Backpacks— I have a 65L backpack, 28L daypack/carry on, and an 8L side bag for everyday use

***Consider when buying gear: What do you value? Comfort, price, quality, size, weight. When I was purchasing my backpacking gear, I valued lower prices so I got good stuff, its just not the best of the best in terms of size and weight. On the flip side, light weight items are more expensive but not always as comfortable…It’s all a tradeoff!

CLOTHES:

**Tip: When narrowing down what to bring, I prayed over each item, that God would give me a peace over every single article of clothing that I pack into my pack. And honestly, praying helped me to peacefully part with some of my favorite clothes and opened my eyes to clothes that I wasn’t even planning on packing! There were times when I wanted to pack something “just in case,” but God gave me a peace to trust Him and leave it behind. #thanksGod

4 cute shirts
3 tank tops
3 t-shirts
1 long sleeve
1 hoodie
1 lightweight zip up

*I somehow fit all of that stuff into the packing cube pictured^^

**Packing tip: roll up hoodie into the hood and tie the strings around the hoodie like this ^^

1 skirt
1 dress
1 leggings—to wear under clothes when ankles need to be covered
2 elephant pants
Running shorts & sleeping shorts—not compliant with dress code so I’ll wear these to bed & for indoor work outs
2 long shorts

*I plan on buying more skirts and dresses in other countries so I packed light here.

From left packing cube to right:
20 pairs of undies
6 bras, spandex, and one piece swimsuit (all sports bras for me but you bring whats comfy for you)
6 pairs of socks and 3 headbands

**If you’re wondering size of these cubes, the one on the left looks like this! The other 2 are medium sized and the ones for my shirts & pants are large

Only bringing 3 pairs of shoes! Chacos, sandals, & running shoes

TOILETRIES:

Bug spray—I decided to go with a natural one….we shall see how that works out
Toothbrush + toothbrush cover + toothpaste
Face wash—I brought a big one because I like this brand. not necessary though
Face lotion
Deodorant—mens deo works sooo much better (and cheaper too!)
Wet wipes— for the times when showers are scarce
Body spray—also for times when showers are scarce
Febreze— for the times when clothes need a lil freshening
Razor + 3 replacements
Aloe
In the bag thingy is a few scrunchies & necklaces
Travel shower stuff
Retainer
Contacts + case + solution
Tampons—a years worth because most countries don’t sell them :O

**For all of you contact wearers out there, I brought 5 months of dailies and 6 months of monthlies. My doctor told me that I should wear the dailies in the less sanitary countries. I stuffed them all into this bag for extra protection!

*Small makeup bag for the days that I don’t wanna look like a dirty world racer

MEDICINE:

Not bringing much medicine (sorry mom). Just bringing essential oils and prayer!!!
Seriously though, the less I bring, the more I’ll rely on God! I use Eden’s Garden essential oils because they’re more affordable but still 100% pure. Plus, the founder is a Christian so I feel extra good about this brand!

The pills you see are one month of malaria (malarone) and some melatonin.

ELECTRONICS:

Power strip
Laptop
Kindle
Adapter
5 headphone listener
Bluetooth headphones
Speaker
2 portable chargers
Chargers for devices

ESSENTIALS:

Bible
Journal
Passport—and copies of passport!
Travel pouch—for important documents
Wallet
Deck of cards
Pen
Ear plugs—for snoring teammates
Eye mask—for making it sleep time anywhere you go!!
Glasses
Everyday bag—I love this Patagonia Atom sling…fits my essentials perfectly!

PACKING IT UP:

Bringing all of these things as carry ons because 1) couldn’t fit them in my big backpack to save my life and 2) if I get stuck overnight at an airport, I’m all set to go!!

Here it is all packed!! Just barely fit everything and will pray that my running shoes don’t fall out the sides of my pack…

Thx for reading hope this was helpful!!!
