Was planning on packing today, but I really felt the Spirit put this revelation on my heart while reading Romans 1&2…so much so that the words were flowing out of me!! Hope you enjoy!
This is God’s Movie. Think about it. From the beginning of the world to the end of the age, God has been directing this movie called life the whole time!
There are two sides to the movie: light and dark. There’s no in between, and you can’t escape the reality that you’re in this! If you’re alive, then you’re in the movie. And everyone has a role in this movie. Yes, everyone. Even people who don’t acknowledge God and want nothing to do with Him. God wants everyone as His kids, but not everyone wants Him as their Father.
Think about it: in this battle of light vs darkness, Satan uses things like money, job, popularity, fashion, to-do list, school, sickness, other religions, and every other worldly stress to distract us from the light. Seriously, have you ever wondered why life can feel so mundane sometimes? That’s not how God intended life to be!! Life is supposed to be fun, full of light and joy and love and wholeness—like the Garden of Eden was when God originally designed it. Since almost the beginning of creation, Satan has been trying to distract us from enjoying the fullness of what God created our lives to be! If we get caught up focusing on the sadness, sickness, and struggles, then it’s easy do fall into a downward spiral of darkness. (Not that we join the dark side, but we let it get to us and overwhelm us)
So how do we get out of this mundane lifestyle? What do we do when we feel like we’re in the midst of darkness all around? What do we do if we feel like we’re walking on the side of darkness?
If you don’t know Jesus personally already, the first step is relationship: invite Him into your life! He wants a relationship with you and He wants you to be on His side of this battle (the light side). I don’t know about you, but I want to be on the side where there’s victory and joy and abundance!!!
If you already know God personally, I’d say there are two very important steps to getting out of the darkness and walking in the fullness that God intended your life to be: identity and destiny.
IDENTITY: Remember who you are: a child of the most High God, walking in the light and carrying God’s Spirit everywhere you go! How cool is that?! The God of the universe chose to partner with YOU. Look in the mirror and declare who God has made you to be: righteous, holy, blameless, beautiful, LIGHT. There’s power in declaring those things to yourself, especially when it doesn’t feel like that’s who you are. Jesus paid for all of your sins and struggles and darkness on the cross, and it no longer has power over you! And being on the light side, God has fully equipped you to fight the darkness! Check out Ephesians 6:10-20.
DESTINY: Our destiny as followers of Christ is to live as ambassadors for Him and fight the darkness everywhere we go! Literally, nothing is as important as partnering with God in this movie called life to change the world for His glory! Destiny is partnering with breakthrough and remembering that our home isn’t here on earth. Rather, we carry heaven with us everywhere we go because the Holy Spirit lives inside of us—a guarantee of what’s to come in heaven! [2 Corinthians 5:1-5]. Our destiny is to carry that heaven with us everywhere we go and change the atmosphere! The light that God has given us is so powerful, and powerful enough to overcome all darkness. Fight for the light to be brought into places of darkness. That everyone would know the abundance that exists in the heavenly realm!!!
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” [2 Corinthians 4:16-18]
I am confident that if you walk in relationship, identity, and destiny with God, your life will be more fulfilling. You will feel a purpose in your life and you will feel a sense of wholeness that you’ve never felt before. And suddenly, the darkness and hardships and calamities will have less and less power over you because you are walking with the God side of this battle: the side that walks in victory!!
That’s what the movie is all about: the director of the movie (God) is partnering with His kids to bring light where there’s darkness and to bring more people into his heavenly family! Its like we’re spies on a mission for light and God’s glory. I encourage you all to walk in the light everywhere you go—even the grocery store! Change the atmosphere for Christ 😀
