Growing up has been so… easy. I was raised in a Christian home with two amazing, Godly parents and brother. I went to church every Sunday and even Wednesday for pretty much my entire life. I went to Christian school from kindergarten until 8th grade, went to a secular, charter high school and am currently attending Cedarville University, a prestigious Christian university. I have grown up in a spiritual bubble. I have never had to experience the true difficulties of living in a country where Christianity is not only unimportant but persecuted. At college, even at a Christian college, you tend to find yourself just living life day by day, trying to survive the constant waves of homework and tests. This past year, God has really been impressing on my heart that there is so much more to life than living day by day, just trying to survive. As my college career winds down and I watch my friends apply to jobs and try to figure out what career path they will be headed towards and where they will be living after college, the reality of the World Race is becoming more and more real to me.

I can distinctly remember sitting in the back seat of the car with my dad and brother, rockin’ out to, of course, Steven Curtis Chapman. It obviously left an impression on me because there are still times when I listen to his music. As I consider the World Race and traveling the world, while sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there are two songs that tend to stick out to me. The songs are called More to This Life and Only Getting Started. God has called all of us to spread the Gospel, be it in the work place, or travelling around and spreading the Gospel to the unreached people groups of the world. As I am called to go on this trip, God will be moving in my life, as well as those I come in contact with, to understand that HE is so much more than simply trying to survive day by day. God has only just begun changing my life and I am beyond excited to see all that he has in store for me in this trip, and for the rest of my life.

“And when I start thinking I’m getting close to the end,

You just smile at me and say,

‘Hey kid, you ain’t seen nothing yet,

I’m only getting started”

-Steven Curtis Chapman
