My team and I have now entered the 11th month of our time overseas! What a bittersweet thing to write and what a bittersweet thing to experience. I think of all of the preparation and planning that went into this endeavor last year. I think of when I said goodbye to my family and friends this past January. I think of all of the people and places I have seen throughout these many months. And I’ll be honest, it’s hard to process all of those things!
And that’s exactly what the Lord has been asking of me since my team and I arrived in Morocco – to process where I have been, where I am, and where I am going. He has reminded me of His provision throughout this past year and He is reminding me now that He will provide as I end this journey and transition home soon.
But I have a request for you! Will you pray for me? Will you pray for my team? Will you pray for Morocco? It would be so easy to mentally, spiritually, or relationally “check out” and just try to survive before we all land on American soil once again.
God is stirring the heart of this nation and we are so excited to be a part of His plan! We just need some extra strength from the Lord as we finish this race well.
Also, a few years ago, I remember having a conversation with one of my co-workers, Shelly, about a fellow missionary she had met. Shelly asked this sweet, young lady, “Do you ever miss home?” This young woman simply smiled and replied, “I have learned that wherever I lay my head, that is my home because Jesus is there.”
That one statement has stayed with me this entire year and I keep reminding myself of this truth for this last month on the race.
So, Lord, here’s my prayer:
“Today I lay my head down in Morocco, next month I will lay my head down in America, and who knows where I’ll be laying my head down next year. But one thing I know – Jesus is with me! Whatever He has for me this month, He is with me. When I return home, He will be with me. Whatever season I enter into next year, He will be with me. That’s all that matters. That’s all I desire. Lord, I just want to be where You are!”
That’s also my prayer for the people here in Morocco – Jesus be where they are!
That’s also my prayer for you – Jesus be where they are!
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me this past year! Month 11 here we go! May God be glorified and may His Kingdom come!
Much love,
Melissa
P.S. I hope these scripture verses encourage you as they have encouraged me. 🙂
Isaiah 40:31
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength…they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint!”
Matthew 20:28
“Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
II Timothy 2:1-3
“You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”
Revelation 12:11
“And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.”
