Hey everyone! I’m currently trusting in Gods faithfulness.
When I started this journey I had $18,017 to raise. Thats a crazy amount of money, but I had peace in my heart that God was going to come through and help me raise it. Let me tell you its been quite the journey.
I’ll admit I have a hard time with “asking for help” I like to be independent. God, through this journey of fund raising has shown me how He is provider and how the kingdom of heaven works. God revealed to me that I wasn’t asking for help but providing an opportunity for people who are in a season where they can’t go out, to go out through me.
I am currently at the home stretch of fundraising. I only have $731 left to raise, Praise God. But I have already been extended grace as the deadline to be fully funded was the 30th of January. I received this in an E-mail from leadership:
“If we come to this next debrief March 29th and people are still short of their fundraising goal, we will need to have some more serious conversations. We never want to send people home, but from a fiscal standpoint we simply cannot afford to keep people on the field who do not raise the individual support they need. We have extended grace as the final fundraising date was this last debrief, so we really need to be intentional as we are two months past that date at this current moment.” The email was full of encouragement and offers of prayer and idea support as well but also clearly stating that its at a point where we need to be funded.
I would like you to prayerfully consider partnering with me financially so I can stay on the field and keep serving. God has done so much in the past 5 months and I know He has so much to fulfill in the next 5 and a half months. Here are a few things I’ve done so far on the race.
Argentina- Our whole squad was together at a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) base. People had various ministries this month, my team however had manual labor for the whole month. It was a challenge. Hard work out in the South American sun, doing things I didn’t really like to do. But God taught me a lot that month about serving with excellence, even when doing something I don’t like to do haha. I made great connections with the staff and it was really cool to know that we helped take the weight of those hard physical tasks off the shoulders of the long term missionaries there.
Bolivia- My team was assigned to going to Apolo and helping at a local church in a very small town, going to remote villages, the first being Huaratumo, which was a four hour drive through mountains and jungle. We had the opportunity to work with the children there and just pour out Gods love to the people there. And lastly the most daunting part of our ministry… Hiking 62 miles round trip through the Amazon Jungle to a small village called the Mojo’s. The hike was the Hardest thing I have ever done in my entire life!! Before leaving our host said something along the lines of There are a lot of ways you could get hurt or even die on this trail, but we have heaven to look forward to and they are desperate to know more of God. He has called you here, are you willing to literally lay your life down? Is it worth it?. My team and I had been praying Psalm 91 over this since we heard we were assigned to it. We knew God had called us to it and we had peace. I decided in my heart no matter what the outcome, God had called me to it therefore it was worth it! We hiked to that village, God taught me so much on the path about trusting Him and his protection! When we arrived to the village they were so grateful, we were told local pastors won’t come visit because it is “too hard”. Let me tell you they were some of the kindest, loving and hungry for God people I’ve ever met! Christianity has only been there 5 years and so we spent the whole time letting them ask questions, sharing stories of God’s faithfulness and Gods character! We got to build up and love on our fellow brothers and sisters and Christ and it was beautiful! It was so beautiful that God had called us there, Just to spend time with and love on those amazing people!
Cambodia– My team did unsung hero which means we researched ministries and met with them hoping to connect the race with them to work with local ministries in Siem Reap in the future. It was so cool to hear the stories, hearts and passions of the local ministries and missionaries in the area! It was such a cool experience to literally live out the family of Christ because we would contact these ministries, these strangers and it would turn into beautiful times of testimony! Along with Unsung hero we helped at the local world race base there. I had the opportunity to teach the local staff English. I bonded very deeply with the staff and honestly felt like family. Not all of the staff are Christians so it was a great time to share my heart and be the love of Jesus!
Thailand– In Thailand my team was apart of helping set up the new home base for the long term adventures in missions missionary team. We painted an entire hostel It had 9 rooms, tons of staircases and very high ceiling to paint. It was a challenge but I found so much joy in preparing a place for the long term missions team to work out of! It was a wonderful time getting to know the two teams working there, getting to hear their passion for Thailand, the culture and the people! We also spent a day each week going out and praying over the city, connecting and praying for the people there! It was a great month!
Now my team is in Serbia. We are working with a local church. Helping with outreach, student ministries, sharing our testimonies, teaching English and going out and loving on the community here. Its been so great to work with a church so passionate for its community. The staff is so encouraging and inspiring to work with!
I am so excited to see what God has in store for the rest of Eastern Europe and Africa! And I know God will be faithful to provide! Thanks for reading and for your prayers and support!
Love and blessings.
Megan
