27 squadmates

7 teammates

3 squad leaders

2 coaches

1 squad mentor

1 group of incredible human beings with whom I can’t wait to embark on this journey of making disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey. The squad leaders and my fellow squadmates will travel from country to country with one another, and then we will break up into our smaller groups called “teams” with whom we will live and do ministry.

My heart is so full after spending 10 days with the people I will be living and serving with for 11 months!

Now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for, introducing my team…

SOLDOD!

We chose the name SOLDOD for our team as an acronym that stands for “Sons of Light, Daughters of Day” after 1 Thessalonians 5:5 (MSG translation). I am so excited about sharing this journey up close with these folks! They are full of love and adventure, and if you want more stories about our adventures, definitely check out their blogs (listed below) to get even more World Race goodness!

Andrew

Andrew is awesome. He and I have bonded over a mutual love of Disney movies. As the tallest of our team, he’s easy to find in a crowd, which I appreciate as one of the shortest! He is super kind and caring! We taught him how to play the card game “Nertz” and I teamed up with him, pointing out places to play that would also ultimately help myself (ha!). I’m excited to glean from his wisdom this year!

Joe

Joe’s love for the outdoors inspires me to go outside and enjoy it even more! He loves hunting and fishing. His favorite part about Jesus is that he came for everybody and he doesn’t hold your past against you. Joe knows how to have a good laugh and is super encouraging.

Josh

Fun Fact: Josh is our Team Leader! I am so psyched for him, I know he is going to lead us into great things! Josh has a knack for serving people well. He also finds great laughter in my goofy facial expressions which Regan frequently captures on camera. So I know we are all going to laugh a lot on the Race.

Kayla

Kayla is someone you want in your corner. She is so kind and really makes you feel at home in her presence. She has a quiet strength about her, and she crushed it in the Squad Wars competition where she had to protect an egg tied to her head from being unbroken (long story). She’s also a fellow Midwesterner, but I’m sure our southern teammates will have us saying “y’all” before we know it!

Matt

Mateo! He is so alive, creative, and full of passion and energy. I love talking with him because he really lights up when he talks about something he loves and it’s contagious! If he could have any superpower, he told me it would be Magneto’s ability to control electromagnetism. His answer was so cool it definitely made me rethink my answer of “flying.”

Regan

Regan is such a special girl. She is bold and loves fiercely. I have seen her strength up close, and I know she is going to be a warrior for the Kingdom of God. She is so much fun, and super handy with a camera (you can thank her ahead of time for all the pictures yet to come!).

Moi

Yours Truly! Same ol’ Megs. It’s been a long journey, full of two rounds of Training Camp and a year and a half between applying and launching. I can already see there is so much for me to learn from my teammates, squadmates, and leaders. I can’t wait to get started. Please cover us in prayer as we get ready to launch in August to take the Good News of Jesus to the ends of the earth!

<WARNING: EXTREME GOOFINESS IS AHEAD. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED>

When the leadership revealed our teams to us, we decided to take a few pictures. This led to the magical moments you see below. Long story short, I had my eyes closed for a “silly picture” while our squad mentor Jeremy threw his water bottle at us, so I literally didn’t see it coming. I hope it brings you as much laughter and joy as it has us! [No Megs were harmed in the making of these memories.]

The exact moment the bottle hits my face.

Poor Jeremy felt really bad! He apologized right away.

The team that laughs together, stays together. <3
