Hey there pals!
So I know that this is a huge announcement and that there’s a lot of moving pieces to this journey they call the World Race, so I thought a good place to start my blog would be in a FAQ style! So here, we, go!
What exactly is the World Race?
“The World Race is a stretching journey to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. This unique mission trip is a challenging adventure for young adults to abandon worldly possessions and a traditional lifestyle in exchange for an understanding that it’s not about you; it’s about the Kingdom.” – https://www.worldrace.org/
Basically, the World Race is an 11 month mission trip in which a squad of about 50 young adults travels to 11 different countries, spending a month in each and serving the communities in which they are placed.
Where will I be going?
As of right now, this is the route I am on, however these countries are subject to change for any number of reasons.
– Colombia
– Ecuador
– Peru
– Indonesia
– Philippines
– Cambodia
– Thailand
– Vietnam
– Moldova
– Ukraine
– Latvia
What do I do in those countries?
”Every day on the World Race looks a little different. Some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, building relationships with orphans, or praying for the sick at a hospital. Some days could be slower — shopping for groceries at the market, cooking for your team, and spending time praying for the community you walk through.” – https://www.worldrace.org/?tab=about&subtab=faqs
Each month will end up looking different, but basically we will partner with local ministries in the communities in the work we do, while also building each other up and strengthening our teammates.
When do I leave?
I launch in August of 2017!! Although the exact date and details are still TBA, I can tell you I have 4 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days from today until August. WHOA. That’s coming up soon!! #superstoked
How can you support me?
Firstly and most importantly is prayer. Sometimes I treat prayer as a “last ditch effort” when really prayer is how we connect with God and build our relationship to Him. This is going to be the most rewarding, and most difficult, journey thus far. It would absolutely mean the world to me for you to consider partnering with me in prayer (maybe even get a lil prayer group going for me?? 😉 ) both before I leave and while I’m gone. I also want to invite you to pray with me for the countries I will be visiting! May the Lord bring healing to the lost and broken!
I’d also like to take a moment and ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with me in fundraising. But there’s more than one way to do this! I need funds, but I also need a bunch of passionate people to help me through the process by means of brainstorming and executing all my fundraising plans! Please reach out to me with any ideas, skills, resources, or simply time, which you have and would be willing to devote to this mission!
How much support do I need?
The total amount that I need to fundraise for the World Race (which includes food, housing, travel) is $17,017. If you ever want to see how far along I am, you can check out this neat little meter on the homepage of my blog! The deadlines are as follows:
Deadline #1: $5,000 by MAY 15, 2017
Deadline #2: $10,000 by JULY 21, 2017
Deadline #3: $13,000 by SEPTEMBER 30, 2017
Deadline #4: 100% funded by NOVEMBER 30, 2017
