Well I think it is about time to introduce you to my team, Undivided. This is the group of women I have had the privilege of serving with for the last three months. Before training camp, I was aware that we would be placed into teams and those teams would change about every four months or so. Four months is a long time to live with the same group of people, so I was crossing my fingers that I would land in a good group.
Well, as training camp went on, and I met all the people in my squad, I came to realize I couldn’t lose by being on a team with any of them. Each person has something I can learn from, and a lot of them have hearts very similar to mine. When my team was revealed to me, I knew it was exactly the combination in which we all needed to start out the race. So without further ado, here’s my team!
Nettie: Team leader
Age: 24
Occupation: elementary teacher
Favorite color: Yellow
Nettie is our social butterfly in the group. She loves people and will always be found introducing herself to new friends and getting to know all about them. One of her greatest passions is evangelism. She thrived last month in Malawi because each afternoon we walked the streets and shared the good news. We love Nettie, and our team would not be the same without her bubbly personality and constant energy!
Dani: Adventure Tracker
Age: 24
Occupation: Cosmetologist
Favorite color: Pink
Dani has made me laugh a lot on this race. She has the best sense of humor and will not let you get away with anything. I have been encouraged by her love for Jesus and her boldness to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. She has a great passion for women and inviting them into a life of redemption and love. We are lucky to have Dani on our team because as she would say, she keeps us looking “treacherous.”
Averi: Storyteller
Age: 24
Occupation: Teacher’s Assistant
Favorite color: Fun Blue?
I love Averi almost as much as she loves her dogs. She is a woman with many talents, including art, videography, softball, understanding me, and going days without showering. She is from Oklahoma, so sometimes she has a cute southern twang. Averi is that person who goes all out on spirit day at school, so as you can imagine, she is a blast to live with.
Kenadi: Worship coordinator
Age: 22
Occupation: Front office coordinator at a physical therapy office
Favorite color: Seaform green or royal purple
I am so thankful that Kenadi is on our team. I could tell right away that her brain works very different than mine and I was looking forward to growing and being challenged by her detailed and logical thinking. She is the smallest on our team, but I would pick her out of everyone to be the body guard. She is steadfast, committed, strong, and compassionate. It’s also not weird to find her talking in a British accent.
Kristie: Beauty for Ashes coordinator
Age: 22
Occupation: Math teacher
Favorite color: Navy blue
Kristie was one of the first people I met at training camp. She is friendly and a great listener. Whenever she has shared part of her story I smile because I know her authenticity is touching many hearts. She is a great advocate for women and encouraging them in their faith and in their confidence. Her positive attitude is constant, and I know I can always depend on her. She has also graciously been my bus buddy on most of our long bus ride days, bless her heart! She is a woman of grace and patience.
That is my team! Of course I am barely scratching the surface with these quick bios. They are strangers who have become family. They have seen me on my best days, and on my worst days. And on my worst days they have shown me grace and have called me higher. On my best days we have laughed and celebrated being on this adventure together with Jesus.
Thank you so much for reading, and for your prayers for my team! One prayer request I have is for Kristie, Dani and Averi. They are still on their fundraising journey, and have until the end of January to be fully-funded. Please pray for those funds to come in, and if you are feeling led to help us keep them on the field, please donate through their blogs:
