Hello! My name is Megan McKinley and I am from Sugar Grove, IL. I came across the World Race when I was a sophomore in college and thought it was an amazing opportunity, but just not for me. I have been very focused on mission work in the country of Nicaragua and was exploring what it would mean to move there sometime after graduation from college. This focus led me to a residency program through the non-profit organization, Triple Threat Mentoring, which is located in Aurora, IL. I wanted to learn all about non-profit work in order to see if what they were doing could be expanded to communities in Nicaragua. When some doors were shutting with these plans, I stumbled upon the world race again. This time I was completely captivated by the opportunity to see the church all across the world. After several months of prayer and seeking wisdom, I decided to apply. I was so excited to be accepted and prayed that God would bless my decision to commit my next year to going on an adventure with Him. In the few weeks of being committed to launching in October, I have gone through so many emotions—excitement, fear, curiosity, doubt and joy. I have no doubt that this trip will bring about a lot of challenges, but I am looking forward to the growth that comes with this adventure!
