A few nights ago, God reminded me of some things:

When I encounter easy times,

The Lord is good to me.

When I encounter hard times,

The Lord is still good to me.

When I seek His truth,

The Lord is good to me.

When I fail to listen,

The Lord is still good to me.

When I stand firm,

The Lord is good to me.

When I let the lies overtake my mind and my mood,

The Lord is still good to me.

When I love things about myself,

The Lord is good to me.

When I compare myself to others and start to dislike how He created me,

The Lord is still good to me.

When I rejoice in the Lord,

The Lord is good to me.

When I get mad and question God’s plan for me,

The Lord is still good to me.

When I praise Him,

The Lord is good to me.

When I don’t think the Lord is good to me,

Guess what? The Lord is still good to me.

His goodness doesn’t change. It doesn’t stop. He never withholds it from me. Even though He sees me and knows every part of me – every rebellious, ugly part of me – He is good to me and He loves me. I am fully known by Him and STILL I am fully loved and accepted by Him. He invites me to come and sit at His table with Him because nothing – I repeat, NOTHING – can separate me from the love of God.

It’s something so simple, yet so profound.

“God is good.”

He just is. Constantly. Always. It’s a goodness that goes far beyond measure. Far beyond every bit of knowledge that our brains can understand. Far beyond every bit of knowledge of every person that ever was, every person that is, and every person that will be, combined.

That’s a God worthy of being followed, being praised, being adored, being shared, and being trusted. Always.
