Hey there! Welcome to my blog!

My name is Megan Smith and I just completed my first year at the University of Northern Iowa. I love people, church camp, hammocking, sports, Netflix, and Jesus. I love many other things, but those are the main ones!

I grew up in the small town of Denver, Iowa with my two brothers and my parents. While I loved my family (and still do), we had a lot of issues. My older brother and I fought all the time – I was a very angry child and loved having the last word (which usually involved yelling not very nice things) in arguments. There was also a lot of arguing between my parents, which didn’t give me a very good example as to what a healthy relationship should look like.

There wasn’t really a whole lot of love in my household. And there wasn’t really a whole lot of love for Jesus, either. Although we attended church on Sundays and Wednesdays and learned about the Bible and what Jesus did for us, we didn’t really implement that into our lives and live that out during the week. There were even days where not even 5 minutes after church ended, we seemed to have forgotten what we had just learned. We all had relationships with God, but I think we lacked the true commitment and devotion to loving Him AND His children AND unbelievers.

Don’t get me wrong, though. We had good times, too. Great times, even. Times of love and laughter and silly games of tackle football in the back yard and times where we truly thanked God and even portrayed some of His characteristics. It just seems to be easier to remember the difficult and broken times rather than the blissful times.

God came to my rescue – like He always does. He showed me through the loving people at my church camp and the people at my church that truly devoting my life to Him was what was going to set me free from all the pain, sin, and shame that I had gone through. He is the only One who can save and fill that emptiness in my heart. For freedom He has set me free. MAN, what an amazing love from a Father who calls me chosen. Calls me worthy. Calls me forgiven. Calls me His.

I would love it so much if you would prayerfully consider joining me on this journey that God has called me on by supporting me in any way you feel called to. Whether that be financially, in prayer, or simply in conversation. Anything and everything – I will appreciate it so much.

Blessings,

Megan Smith
