These are just the things that came to mind when sifting through my memory of different titles, different identities I’ve given myself over the years. Some things I’ve been proud of, others I’ve felt were projected on me, things I’ve been labeled as.
There are so many things.. most of them synthetic, some of them I’ve been before, some of them goals, some of them natural. Some that I chose for myself, some that I wanted for others.
But everything.. everything I’m not.
I like to bake, it doesn’t make me a baker. I’m on the World Race, it doesn’t mean I’m a World Racer. I am trying to be the hands and feet of Jesus, it doesn’t mean I’m a missionary. I’m divorced, but that isn’t something that defines me.
Some of these things are true but that’s not who I am. My identity isn’t found in any of these things.
I am a daughter of the One True King… I am uniquely made, uniquely loved, uniquely shaped to be a vessel of the Holy Spirit.
Not meant to be similar, not meant to be set above. Meant to be set apart and yet elaborately intertwined with a purpose for the Kingdom of God.
🙂
