TRAVEL DAY
Plovdiv, Bulgaria to Georgetown, Malaysia
43 hours and 41 minutes
8:00am: so. much. stuff.
8:02am: yep, my 50lbs bag fell off the shelf. no, no one was hurt.
9:13am: when you’re trying not to get lice… just your average travel day precautions.
9:37am: travel day snacks… homemade chocolate chip cookies and…
9:38am: …cucumbers! [not pictured: the carrots]
10:30am: made it to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
11:00am: comfy & cozy!
11:32am: “dry run” to figure out our route to the airport.
1:57pm: we missed our stop and rode til the end of the line.
3:21pm: headed to the airport on the metro.
5:07pm: reunited with the other teams that served in Bulgaria!
7:10pm: checking in… all 26 of us!
8:35pm: boarding the quick flight to Istanbul.
9:21pm: BLAST OFF!
10:07pm: Turkish Airlines hooks up the snacks!
11:23pm: flying over the coast of Turkey.
1:13am: running on steam, getting a little crazy.
1:34pm: waiting on take off for our 10 hour flight.
1:55am: here. we. GO!
3:26am: dinner is served.
9:26am: breakfast.
11:56am: enjoying a nice cup of coffee [not pictured: the 2 movies I watched]
5:16pm: WELCOME TO MALAYSIA!! Magical time change 😉
7:07pm: made it through customs…
7:08pm: …now shuttle bus to terminal 2 to meet up with the rest of the squad.
12:55am: 19 ladies headed on a 5 hour bus ride to Penang.
*shout out to BURT for fixing us up with such a fancy bus!!*
12:56am: riding in style up at the very front.
1:14am: no lice for me!
3:44am: Sav and I didn’t sleep a wink on the ride and instead, we watched Divergent. This moment of pure joy happened when she literally prayed for a bathroom stop and 3 minutes later, we pulled over at a gas station.
7:46am: final leg… ferry ride to Georgetown.
7:48am: such beautiful views!
6:39pm: after a LONG nap, we woke up, got out and tried some local cuisine.
8:08pm: ended the day at City Light Church with our new friends and some special tea.
Malaysia you have been so good to us so far!
