After a quick stop in Nelspruit, South Africa for debrief and the dreamiest eight-ish hour bus ride through the African mountain side, I can say hi from Lesotho!!

Life here. It’s pretty amazing. I am living in the capital city of Mesuru. My team is living next to an orphanage where our ministry is working with vulnerable children. These are by far the coolest kids I’ve ever met. It may be hard to tell from their infectious smiles that the kids here have been abandoned, abused, neglected, or left without anywhere to go with their parents absent or in jail. We are the third World Race team to be here and it is clear that the previous teams have made such a lasting impact on this place and all of the people! We are so excited to strive to continue the legacy they left.

My days last week started early. Annie and I gave baths to three of the littlest kids and helped them get ready for the day. The older ones cleaned, ate and helped the younger ones get ready for school. There are three rooms in the house… one for the boys, one for the girls, and one for the little kids. At seven we walk with them to their school across the street. One of my favorite things about being here so far is that ministry isn’t always scheduled… it’s usually whatever we want it to be! For the first few days a group of high school girls came over and hung out at our house. We sang with them, played truth or dare, and got to talk and make new friends! I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to have all month to develop relationships with them.

The people here are so friendly. In the mall they will come up to talk to us and ask for our Facebooks. I always say this is the most famous we’ll ever feel… taking selfies and waving and smiling and talking to every person on the street is not something I’m used to, but I love it.

Here’s a random list of things to give you a little more insight into my life currently… yesterday Annie, Grace, me, and two of our friends from the orphanage gave baths to two little puppies that run around and live in the storage house. There’s a cow that wanders by our window all day. They have these fried balls of dough here that cost less than one cent and we can’t get enough of them. There are beautiful mountains everywhere you turn and the sky here makes you feel like you are closer to heaven. I feel like I could touch the stars when I go outside at night.

It’s so crazy to think I have already been gone for a little over a month. The days are long but the weeks are definitely short! I am so filled with gratitude every day that the Lord has given me the chance to be here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to have this opportunity!

I want to pray for you this month!! Please send me an email with any ways that I can pray for you! [email protected].
