God is doing big things here in Cambodia!
One morning, I went with one of the guys on the team named Christian to a pagoda that he had been going to daily. When we arrived, none of the people we had been building relationships with were there. So we sat for a while and prayed, knowing that the Lord had a plan for the day. As we sat, we saw some children playing under a tree, so we decided to just go play with them and love them. They spoke absolutely no English, and we speak absolutely no Khmer. But we sat and laughed and played with toy food and a calculator that had no batteries for well over an hour. All the while, Christian and I were able to declare truth over these kids, that they are children of God and they are deeply loved. We prayed as we played, asking the Lord to continually show up and move in their lives. And we got to remember what it’s like to be like a child, finding pure joy from the littlest of things.
After playing with the kids, some of Christian and I’s friends came outside and sat down with us. One of the university students that we have become friends with has asked us to teach him the guitar, so Christian gave him lessons while I talked with some other people for a few minutes. Somehow one of the guitars ended up in my hands, and the other in Christian’s. Our friends asked us to play them some songs we had never heard of, so we decided that we would worship instead. So for the next 45 minutes, we worshiped Jesus in a Buddhist temple. With every single song being recorded by monks, students, and taxi drivers. After we finished, we asked if they understood what we were singing about, and they said no. We tried to explain, but they didn’t quite get it. But, they all have 45 minutes worth of worship on their phones. God is moving. We are trusting that the Lord is going to do His part as we do ours. Our God is faithful.
Go love somebody like Jesus does today. Whether that’s buying a meal, taking time to listen to somebody’s story, or playing worship on a guitar.
Please continue to pray for our team here in Battambang as we are in our last month here. Pray for boldness to declare the Good News. Pray for the relationships we have built and for our friends. Pray for the ability to remain present and press into what the Lord is doing here, not focusing on what’s next. Thank you for your prayers!
