My name is Lizzy Bodkin, I am 23 years old, and I was born and raised in Huntsville, AL. For the past four and a half years I have been living in Birmingham attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Ever since I can remember I have felt called to work with children. Seeing the joy on their faces and hearing their sweet giggles warms my heart. My passion for children led me to pursue a career as a teacher and I cannot wait to have my own classroom some day! Along with hanging out with kiddos all day, I love photography, drawing, doing crafts, and anything that involves being outside.
God started putting missions on my heart in 2013 when I went on my first mission trip to Honduras. Since then I have had the privilege of going on several more mission trips, falling in love with every country along the way. In the fall of 2015, God opened the door for me to spend the semester ministering to the people of Uganda. Everyday was a new adventure filled with heartache, joy, new friends, and lots of singing and dancing! While in Uganda I found myself reading blogs from people on World Race, and thinking about how cool it would be to get to do something like that! Although it was always on my mind, I never thought I would actually do it. With graduation right around the corner, I (anxiously) decided to apply for World Race and just see what happens. After lots of prayer, it was clear that God was calling me on this trip and I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for those 11 months! My route leaves this August and travels to El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cote D’ivoire, Ghana, Nepal, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The Lord has already taught me so much during this process, and I can’t wait to update you on what He is doing in and through my life in the months to come!
I know that where God guides, he also provides. I am fully trusting in Him to lead me and provide every need along the way. I desperately need your constant prayers that God continues to use and equip me as He wills, and I continue to submit to that direction daily. Along with prayer, if you feel led to support me financially, you can do so by clicking the “Donate” box on the top right of this page, or via venmo at @LizzyWorldRace. If you would like weekly updates while I am on the field, please subscribe to my blog!
Joyfully His,
Lizzy Bodkin
