A step by step process of how to minister through unexpected ways.
Step 1: drop the expectations you have for what ministry will look like
Step 2: take 1 dance class a week for 4 years then stop to travel the world
Step 3: remember how to dance after 5 months of not dancing because you’ve been busy travelling
Step 4: work at a Guatemalan middle school
Step 5: dance like a freak whenever music comes on while at ministry because why not
Step 6: have your host ask you to do a dance at the school ralley next week
Step 7: find an upbeat christian song to show that christian music is fun too
Step 8: choreograph a simple yet entertaining hip hop piece for the first time in your life
Step 9: teach this piece to your 6 willing but even less experienced teammates
Step 10: get food poisoning so you have 2 less days of practice
Step 11: panic slightly about what the heck you’re doing
Step 12: decide it’s fine because it’ll be a good story one day anyway
Step 13: perform at the ralley
Step 14: get told you’re now teaching the dance
Step 15: lead your first ever dance convention for 60 awkward Guatemalan middle schoolers
Step 16: remember how to breathe cause it’s done
BONUS
Step 17: get invited by the ralley volunteers to go to a young adults group that night
Step 18: arrive and find out you’re performing this dance for them too
Step 19: lead your second ever dance convention for 20 roudy Guatemalan young adults
Step 20: successfully spread the fun awesome love of Jesus through less than expected but equaly effective ways
You’ve now completed your first round of dance ministry. Congratulations. Now be ready for next time.
