Month two has come and gone yet again. Where does the time go and why is it moving so quickly?

This month consisted of the Beloved Daughters evangelizing in the small village of Penkwasi in Sunyani, Ghana. Each day we went to this sweet street in the mornings and evenings. At first, it was difficult for me to go and knock on peoples doors every day. I’m not one to knock on your door and ask for your time, but y’all-it turned out to be such a sweet month

People welcomed us into their homes, taught us how to do laundry, how to cook, play with their kids, talk about Jesus and have bible studies. No one ever shut the door on us or shooed us away. They took us in with opened arms no matter their beliefs.

We have so many sweet stories just by simply seeking out people to connect with.

We met a man, Offa, who shared with us his testimony, sat under his tree with us day after day and had a bible study with us. He encouraged us to dig into scripture and grow deeper with the Lord. Offa loved and encouraged us each day as we walked down the street in Penkwasi.

Another day I sat and watched a family cook their dinner. The work these women endure is incredible. They serve their families so well and so humbly. I was able to hang out with one of the women’s lovely daughter Amina. Her laugh makes you laugh and she falls over when she laughs hard enough. So much joy, y’all.

Mariam is a lovely thirteen year old gal we met one day. As we helped her do laundry, she taught us about her likes and dislikes and we got to know each others hearts. She asked to be best friends and it was instant. Her heart is pure gold and she works and serves better than any thirteen year old I know.

As we were walking down the street, we met Frank and Paul-who were simply in town to sell shoes (WHICH WERE ON THEIR HEADS-also I loved that their names are Frank and Paul). After we chatted and encouraged them, we were able to pray and spur them on for their business.

One day we helped Agnes (Offa’s sister) set up her stand for the day. She kept saying she had no money for us-but we simply just wanted to serve her the best way we knew how. We clapped and laughed together as we set up her stand for the day.

Right before we were about to catch a cab home, we met Seth. We chatted with Seth about Jesus, America, Ghana, the Kardashians (lol???), the weather and everything in between. As we left, we prayed for him and his future endeavors-hoping one day he will come to America.

At the beginning of Penkwasi, we were able to hang out with some kiddos. We sang songs and told them Jesus loved them. They taught us songs and loved on us just as much as we were able to love on them. Hugs and songs to start off an afternoon of evangelism is truly the best.

Even in the airport we met a man, Daniel, who aspires to go to school in America to become a surgeon. As we were seeking out which candy to buy (which we didn’t buy because it was so expensive), we asked Daniel for help and we were able to chat for a while and get to know each other.

It’s so crazy who you can meet and encourage when you lift your head up and look around. There are people around you every day who needs someone to tell them that they are loved, seen, important and chosen. I know evangelism is scary, trust me, but it doesn’t have to look like knocking on people’s doors-you just need to see the people around you and encourage them each and every day.

Stop and chat with someone today who you might not normally talk to-you never know, something so small on your part could be huge in someone else’s life. You don’t have to be all the way across the World to make an impact in someone’s life, so go for-it’s really fun 🙂
