Last year at Castaway (a Young Life camp in Minnesota), one of my friends introduced the phrase ~heart sparkle~ to me. She used it when she talked about her camp crush. How sweet. I mean aren’t we all searching for that person who makes our heart sparkle? (not really the point of this post, but I mean it’s true)

I love this phrase. It’s so fun to me. I think it can be used in many other ways opposed to referring to a crush. Using it for things, places and friends is just as fun!!!

I was watching some World Race Vlogs late last night (I find myself doing this a lot recently because my World Race time is coming and I’m getting super stoked about it!!!!), and I realized the excitement of traveling the world, teaching English, working with kids, having constant community and learning more about myself, Jesus and who I am in Jesus truly makes my heart sparkle.

I struggled for a while determining if the Lord was “calling me” to go on the World Race. I decided with a mentor that I have a heart for missions over seas and this desire is what was leading me to go. You could say that the World Race is a ~heart sparkle~ of mine.

Is this cheesy? Probably, but I have had a difficult time determining my path in the start of my post-grad life. One thing I am sure of is that this next adventure will lead to the next, which will lead to the next and the next. Who knows where I’ll end up or what I will be doing, but that is a-okay with me

What makes my heart sparkle?

Jesus. Traveling. Coffee. Coffee Dates. Heart to hearts. Naps. A good love story (embarrassing plug: Thomas Rhett’s song Life Changes makes me cry). Brunch. One Direction (still hoping for a come back). Ice cream. Sunsets. Corny jokes.

I don’t really know my next step after the Race (I know I’m leaping a bit), but I know God will use the heart sparkles of my life to allow me to shine His light.

Psalm 37:4

Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

What makes your heart sparkle? How can the Lord use that to share the gospel?
