Hola amigos! I have been living in the mountains of Honduras for about a month and a half now. I’m in a cute town called Valle De Angels and I love it so much. Everyday I get to wake up to perfect weather (I’m talking 75 everyday) and beautiful scenery. So far, my teams ministry has been sort of odd BUT very impactful in the long run of things. Each weekday we walk 15 minutes to a special needs home/orphanage and roll piles of clothe/yarn for them. We do this for about 6 hours each day. The point of this task is to help the residents make money for the home they are living at. None of the residents have parents and most of them have been living at the orphanage for their entire lives. Each day we walk through the gates of the home, we are greeted with smiles and endless amounts of hugs from the residents. With the clothe we roll, the residents take it and create purses, decorations, rugs, etc. They then take the products and sell them in the town. The money they make from the products goes back into the home to keep it up and running. So, although rolling yarn day after day can get boring and seem pointless, in the long run, it is being used for something much greater. Recently though, we have gotten the chance to interact with the residents more. For the past couple of weeks we have gotten to dance and sing Christmas songs with them! It has brought me joy seeing their smiles and knowing that God has brought me here to show them what His joy looks like. Being behind the scenes of God’s big plan for these sweet people has been such a blessing. I’m so excited to see what comes from this and spread some more smiles.
