I feel like every holiday season I wake up from a nap and ask, “wait, what day is it again?” That happened today. I woke up and realized that 2018 is right around the corner. I leave for Africa in exactly 20 days and things are getting very real, very fast.
If I am being honest, I’m a little scared. Packing makes my heart drop into my stomach. My to-do list never ends. Goodbyes are weird and my unrealistic expectations are never met. There’s a lot of scary things about leaving, but more exciting things to look forward to.
A few days ago, we got some details about our first month on the field. My team of seven gals will be in Korhogo, a city in the northern part of Cote D’Ivoire. We will be working with Agape Ministry, primarily children’s ministry and youth English classes. I’m so excited to meet our host and get started!
Like I said, it’s getting real. While I am in Africa for two months, I will be fasting from social media. I will only post once I get to a new county to let y’all know I am alive! The primary way to receive updates is to subscribe to this blog! You will receive an email update when I share stories from the field, but I promise I won’t blow up your inbox!
I’m kind of scared to leave social media behind for a while. The majority of my funding has come from social media campaigns. I won’t be able to fundraise like I would want to on the field. That being said, I trust in the God that has provided for me over and over again. It is the end of 2017 and I have $3,700 left to raise. If you feel called to support me, now is truly the time! All donations to the World Race are tax deductible and appreciated, no matter the amount! Please pray and consider supporting me in your year end giving.
I hope to send another update out as soon as I get settled in Korhogo, so be on the look out. Prayer for my team as we prepare and safety as we travel would be so appreciated.
Happy 2018! I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for all of us. Thank you for making this year a reality for me!
