Hey there, friends and family! I am so excited to start this journey with all of you. Since announcing that I would be going on the Race, I have had a lot of questions! I thought I would post all frequently asked questions that you might have. If you would like to hear more, please be in contact! Thank you for your support so far!
What is the World Race?
It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering the abundant life He promised.
Why are you interested in missions?
All followers of Jesus are called to take the gospel to the nations and make disciples of the nations, whether this is across the street or across the world. However, this does not mean everyone has to move to a foreign country. This means supporting those that are committing to go and fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28).
I want to go. I believe God has been preparing my heart for years, leading me to this desire. I love to learn about other cultures and experience them first hand. I believe there is an eternal urgency to tell people of every tribe, tongue, and nation about Jesus.
Where are you going and when?
El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Belize, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos!
I will leave in January of 2018!
What will you do when you get there?
Every month looks a little different on the Race. Often times, we don’t know until we get there! We are placed wherever we are needed. Common ministries include teaching English, construction or manual labor, children’s ministry, evangelism, supporting local churches, prostitution or “bar” recovery ministries, and so many more.
Some days could be slower — shopping for groceries at the market, cooking for my team, and spending time praying for the community I walk through. Regardless of the pace or the activity, every day will be focused on being a part of God’s kingdom work.
I will update here letting you know what I am up to each month!
What are you doing until you leave?
I will be spending time with my family and subbing in the North Dallas area! It will be humbling to be back in my hometown, but I am excited to see how the Lord uses this time to prepare me.
How are you paying for this trip?
My specific route of the Race costs $17,700. As a soon-to-be college graduate, I am obviously unable to do this by myself. I believe that God has led me to this specific trip. I have been praying over the Word Race for over two years. Now that I have been accepted, I will continue to trust in the Lord’s faithfulness. I trust in His provision through His people! I will be fundraising through this next year in many different ways. If you would like to partner with me to see what the Lord is doing to reach the nations, please contact me!
What is this money going towards?
The money I raise will cover all practical costs for my Race, including meals, ministry costs, lodging, all travel (air, land, and sea), and medical insurance. This also covers administrative, set-up, coaching, debriefing, and training camp.
How do I donate?
There are a few options here. Let me give you the break down.
First, you have the choice of online donations or donations by check.
If you are an online donor, simply click the “Donate!” button in the header of my blog! If you would rather pay via check, send me a text or message and I would be glad to get the proper form to you! All donations are tax-deductible!
If you choose to donate online, you can be a monthly donor or a one-time donor. If you feel that you can commit to partnering with me monthly, you are able to do an automatic transaction through your account. If you are a one-time donor, it is super easy! Just enter in your information and you will receive an email receipt!
If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to ask!
