“As for me I would seek God
and to God I would commit my cause,
who does great things and unsearchable,
marvelous things without number…”
Job 5:8-9
Our time in Nicaragua is coming to an end. As we prepare to say our “see you laters” I’ve been reflecting on all that God has done in these last 4 weeks.
Let me tell you He has showed up and showed out! I’ve loved witnessing God moving and seeing His Kingdom present in our daily lives.
Let me break it down a little.
Prayer: We pray every day. However for one whole week we prayed 24/7. We created a prayer room and took turns praying and praising around the clock for seven days. We prayed over each of the ministries here, over the people who run and work with those ministries, over the country of Nicaragua and it’s people. We prayed over those we love back home, over each other, and over anything else that the Lord laid on our hearts. We also praised God because He’s already heard our prayers. He’s already actively moving in this place. He’s already pouring out His blessings. He’s already provided healing, protection, love, and favor. Therefore we continue to pray but we also praise because He’s already here.
Healing: A big part of our ministry during our time here has been prayer walking. Nearly everyday we walk around the community visiting people in their homes. They always welcome us with big smiles (although they could be laughing at our awkwardness). We go with translators who know the community well (most of them live within it) so we get to know the people we visit. They are open and willing to share their stories with us and we get to share ours. In short we get to fellowship with them and it’s amazing!! We always pray over them before we leave and sometimes they ask to pray over us. It’s a sweet time. In that we get to witness some really cool things…
One guy was in extreme pain from his back. He was stiff as a board but after we prayed God healed him and the guy started stretching, twisting, and moving in all sorts of ways in celebration. It was quite a sight. He pulled a ton of pills out of his backpack afterward and explained that the pills were all pain medication he had to take everyday but then he said he didn’t need them anymore because God healed him. We celebrated. The smile on his face was contagious.
One day we visited a couple who’s five sons were taken from their home in the middle of the night by the police. To put it simply, the boys had been in the wrong place at the wrong time and the police simply didn’t know who was guilty and who was innocent. (This is common in most countries). So many young men were taken to jail until things could be sorted out. However the five boys’ parents were very worried and upset. (Totally understandable). So we prayed. We prayed for protection, for the Lord’s favor, for their innocence to be know, for peace, and for well, many things. We praised God for being Truth and for His goodness and faithfulness. And about 20 minutes later the five boys returned home safe.
CAN I GET AN AMEN!?
Personally: Lately the Father has been speaking out over me than I am loved and cared for. I cannot explain how powerful these words are or exactly how much they pull on my heart strings. For me not just knowing but feeling that I am loved and cared for enables me to trust wildly, love recklessly, walk in boldness, and live without fear. I’ve literally been writing those words on my arm everyday lately because when I get overwhelmed, tired, or begin to worry I see these words, am reminded of who my Father is, and receive peace.
CAN I GET A HALLELUJAH!?
These are only a few examples of how God has been moving here but the stories of His magnificence are endless. God really does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number. We just have to ask.
Y’all are the bomb.com. Thanks for reading. Thanks for praying. Thanks for your encouragement!
