Trying to think and pack for the World Race has been exciting, but also extremely overwhelming. Many prayers and lots of patience. Over the last couple of weeks, I have read countless blogs and a few packing lists and have watched many videos to try to get a better idea of some of the things that are needed when I travel for 11 months.
Adventures in Missions gave us a list of items to consider, but we also try to decide on some items depending on the countries we will be serving in.
A freestanding tent is going to be a top priority as this will be the place we sleep 80% of the time unless we choose to sleep in our hammock some evenings.
If it is too warm we won’t need our sleeping bags, but a sleeping liner will be nice.
A sleeping pad is one of the most important items as it will act as our ‘mattress’ while on the race.
If we sleep in our hammock we will probably want a mosquito net.
Hiking pack, sleeping bag, shoes, toiletries, clothes, sandals, pillow, daypack, laptop, adapters, headlamps, towel, a bowl with a knife & spork and a water bottle are just a few more of the items on my packing list.
I’ve been able to talk with some squad mates and my mobilizer to help make some of these decisions a little easier. 🙂
Needless to say, all of the items we purchase must fit in our hiking pack and will need to be under 50lbs from country to country.
So, in just a few short days I will be traveling to REI in Kansas City to pick up most of the items on my list. REI is an American retail and outdoor recreation corporation and is a place where many racers go to purchase their items. Over the memorial holiday weekend, they are having an anniversary sale so I’m super pumped about that!
Let me know if you would like to support me and help purchase any of the items I will be getting when I head to REI in KC. The total will approximately be $750-$1000 for these items. If you would like to send it to my Venmo account (kristenpoljansek) or if you want you can message me for other options. 🙂
I have also compiled a small wish list of ‘others’ here on Amazon.
***UPDATE: After a generous donation from a dear family to me my Amazon wish list has been purchased. Praises!
Hugs,
Kristen
