Month 10 has come and gone and the realization that I will be going home soon has settled in its place. 28 more days and I will be back on a plane that will lead me to overdue hugs, my own bed, a hot shower, and free water, napkins and grocery bags. I so look forward to catching up with family and friends, getting back involved at church and beginning my next journey. However, boarding that plane will also mean saying goodbye to friends who turned into family, countries that have stolen part of my heart, and cultural perspectives that have challenged and grown me in new ways.

What a bittersweet place to be. If you think of it, please pray that this month would be full of laughter, beautiful memories, reflection, and rich times with Jesus. I am almost ready to be home, but I still have a deep feeling that there is something more for me in this last month.

Since we could not go to Nicaragua, we had the freedom to choose to stay in Costa Rica or return back to Panama. Throughout the month, I felt more and more confident that I needed to stay in Costa Rica. We have met so many wonderful women and new friends that I didn’t want to miss an opportunity to dig deeper in our friendships.

So here I am, back in San Jose living in a hostel that smells like feet; but with a full schedule of home visits and fun times ahead with new friends. I hope our time can be filled with love, encouragement, wisdom from the Lord, and maybe some dance lessons 🙂

In the meantime, enjoy this recap video of month 10! It will capture moments of our time in “Little Nicaragua,” 4th of July, visiting my friend Gladys, our time serving at Transforma, learning how to make empanadas, and our trip up to Monte Verde.
