For worship this week we did something new. None of us had done this before but we went into “Psalms writing” with open minds and hearts. That night I remember all of us being extremely exhausted, very irritable and just wanting to get worship over with so we could head to bed. But, of course, God had other plans.

Psalms writing is where you search for a psalms that you like, maybe you’d identify it as your favorite one or one that just spoke to you. Our job after that was to rewrite the psalms in our own words. After awhile I got really into this fun, little worship project! It was a cool new way of experiencing God, praying and describing all the wonder of Him. So without further a do here’s mine!

Psalm 63- My Soul Thirsts For You

O God you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips”

My Psalm 63;

O Lord, my God and my friend; I continually pursue you; my soul thirsts for you. My flesh and humanness may draw me away to where I’m engulfed in a darkness where I can’t see your light. But I keep my sights set above, for your power and glory are my eternal strengths. Because your love is an indescribably contagious force, better than any earthly feeling, better than anything I could ever fathom or imagine. I will sing your name from the rooftops and let not a thing that’s not of you be heard. For as long as I live I will praise you. My hands will wave and dance and clap of praise, with every ounce of my being. My soul will be whole and healed with every color of you, and my mouth will continually sing only your praise, for if I speak of anything else it’s not worth speaking.
