Cambodian weddings take place outside the bride’s home and typically last about 3 days. A few days ago, a crew started to set up for a wedding on the same street as our apartment. Crashing a wedding has been on our world race bucket list, so naturally we were super excited for our dream to potentially become a reality.
Our host said the best way to get invited in is to stand near the tent and watch curiously. Someone would probably approach us and if we say, “I’ve never been to a Cambodian wedding before” they would most likely invite us to attend.
We walked barefoot down the street and tried our luck. The result? An entire table of food being prepared for us. The family of the newly weds gladly welcomed us, took pictures with us, and we danced the night away (until our 9 pm curfew).
To the lovely bride and groom who’s names are still unknown to us: thank you for such a wonderful night and I wish you both a life of happiness
