Our time in the Dominican Republic has come and gone!
Time flies and it all happens so fast. It seems like we just arrived yesterday, yet here we are packing up to leave. The ministry our squad has been partnering with this month is H.O.P.E. Dominican Republic. To be honest, our day-to-day lifestyle this month is vastly different from last month. While our ministry everyday in Haiti included children’s ministry, elderly ministry, and evangelism, our work in the DR involves much less interaction with others on a daily basis. Although we have had the opportunities to invest in the people of this community, the structure of the month has just been much different than last month.
Most of the work this month has consisted of digging trenches, laying pipes for plumbing, moving lumber, and mixing concrete. This is NOT a bad thing, and we had a good time being used to help further H.O.P.E. Dominican Republic’s ministry, it’s just different. And different takes some time to get used to. It has been such a wonderful experience having ministry that looks different from month to month, and there’s no place we’d rather be!
Looking back on the month, it’s been amazing to see the progress made here at HOPE Mountain. Rueben and Vicki (our ministry hosts) have such a beautiful home here that they open up to those in need. Hearing their vision for the future of this place, including a home for women caught in sex trafficking (and their children), sports outreach events, and furthering their children’s ministry, is such an encouragement to us. We may be leaving HOPE Mountain this week, but the work that is being done here to benefit those in need will continue to progress in the months and years to come!
One thing that sets this month apart from other months on the World Race is that it’s “All Squad” month. Normally, after arriving in each country on the Race, our squad will split up into smaller teams and spread out throughout the country to work with multiple ministries. However, our time in the DR has been spent with our entire squad, living and serving in the same place! This has been an awesome opportunity to get to know those from other teams on a deeper level. We eat together, work together, play together, and even have some friendly competition from time to time. God has blessed us with such an amazing community to do life with on the World Race, and we are continually grateful for them! We have had the privilege of seeing the many unique gifts and talents God has given each of our teammates here in the Dominican.
“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”
Romans 12:4-5

We want to thank each and every one of of our readers, our supporters, and our prayer warriors. You guys are amazing and we are continually grateful for the things you do to encourage us on this journey.
