If you know me, you know my love for rooftops. Even back home, whether alone or in the company of others, I’d find my way to a high place and take a look at things.
In India, rooftops are endless. This has me thinking on why I adore rooftops the way I do. In some cases, rooftops bring solitude and peace. In others, a place to grow deeper with others. One to have meaningful conversations, to laugh and to bond. But no matter the case, a rooftop for me is a place of worship. A place to see the lord a little clearer and, feel his presence a little louder. Just the other day, our team sang praises from our roof over the city, and this country.
But there’s a deeper meaning to why I love rooftops. Picture yourself standing on a rooftop or at a higher viewpoint. You can see for miles and miles. You see trees, buildings, people in the distance, the sun, the stars and the moon. You see all the beauty, instead of focusing on the minuscule negative details. Now think about God’s angle on things. He is far above any rooftop i’ve been on, looking farther and admiring much more beauty. He looks at his creation from above and sees it is in fact good. He sees the beauty in you and everything that surrounds you. If you don’t believe me, read Genesis 1 for Genesis 1:31 says, “God saw all that he had made – and it was very good!”
If you ever find yourself in a place where you just can’t seem to find the good, go a little higher than normal, and look at the view through the lenses God looks at you and everything around you.
