Hey guys:) it feels like it’s been weeks since I last blogged…. that’s because it has been weeks! Sorry for the lag. Between having wifi down, traveling from Haiti to Botswana, and having Leadership Development Weekend in South Africa, blogging has been put on pause. BUT, I am back!! Woohoo!! This post will be just an update on where I am now and what I am doing, and on Friday, I will post all he blogs from the last few weeks.
I am in Botswana : )
Now, personally I was very very nervous for Botswana. Not only is it a new country I’ve never been to, but my team is staying in one of the most remote, rural areas of Botswana. It’s actually referred to as “forgotten Botswana”. We are staying in a village named Seronga with a family who runs Delta Cross Ministries. They have welcomed us with open arms and treated our teams like daughters. I really and truly feel at home. We’ve seen quite an assortment of animals ranging from chameleons to elephants. The weather and land is beautiful (and hot). But the first two days here, it was actually so cold that I wore socks, pants, and a sweatshirt… that hasn’t happened in the race yet, and I never expected it to be in Africa! Ha! It was actually such a blessing to experience some cooler weather for a little while.
We also have our own kitchen and cook for ourselves most times, which has been a real fun experience. Also, the grocery store is two hours away and so we did a shopping trip for a whole months worth of food. I have never seen such a long receipt! With our two months here, we will be building relationships with the adults of the community, evangelizing in the village and running a daily children’s ministry. I am very expectant for these next two months. It’s going to be extremely powerful. Everyone on my team has felt that big things will happen in Botswana and I am so excited to see how that plays out. This past week has been full of rest and training how to minister to this community in the best way possible. I have sincerely enjoyed learning and growing and am ready to get to work!! Pray for boldness and love that only comes from abiding in the Holy Spirit. Thank you for all of the prayers and support. I love you guys a lot, God bless!
