There once was a squad called Y,
With a ratio of 4 girls to one guy.
We are 20 strong,
And it hasn’t been long,
But suddenly 11 months has flown by.

Training camp was a whole year ago,
And way back then we definitely didn’t know.
We’d love one another,
Like sister and brother.
And beside each other we would grow.

Orange was our color and we wore it well,
And from our dancing skills, it was hard to tell.
But we won squad wars,
With flour in our pores.
And it was clear that this squad was swell.

Together we met in Atlanta to prepare,
Plenty of weight and extras were left there.
Then to the airport,
The ride was short.
And we began this adventurous affair.

Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru
Indonesia was a great stop too.
Teams changed,
Some roles exchanged,
And the adventure began anew.

We had a warm Christmas in the Philippines.
So warm in fact you didn’t even need jeans.
We celebrated New Years,
And covered our ears
Because of the fireworks and karaoke machines.

Then we continued to Vietnam
And on to Awakening which was anything but calm.
We ran a 5K,
In the red Cambodian clay,
And the fire tunnel at debrief was BOMB.

Our last month in Asia was spent in Thailand,
Where we all had our favorite night market stand.
We had PVT,
It was a sight to see.
Then we left behind the smell of durian as planned.

We arrived in Europe to snow on the ground,
Ukraine and Moldova were both quite profound.
Then at last,
It came up so fast.
The time to go to Spain came around.

We hiked the Camino and we can all agree,
It was tough but we made it, yippee!
Now before this poem ends,
You’ll meet all my friends.
The people who make up the Y Squad family

Zachery and Carly make up Log Squad.
With them, our travel plans are never flawed.
Need a snack?
Erika’s got your back,
And Susan can fix anything at home or abroad.

If you ever need help, call Monica for backup.
“Take your earrings out and put your hair up.”
Chase got another tattoo?
Oh well, that’s nothing new.
But we still want to see what he made up.

Don’t forget Reece who loves his pup Cooper
But still isn’t sure if massage chairs are super.
Paxtyn will sing,
Country, Christian, anything.
And when she leads worship there is never a blooper.

Leah’s hair is growing back at last,
She swears pulling on it makes it happen fast.
David does flips,
Somehow never slips,
And translates Russian and Ukrainian when asked.

How could we survive without Dr. Kenna?
She can fix anything without a dilemma.
Kirsten has a song,
And the reaction is too strong,
So we never play the song because it’s too raw.

Lyndsee might be the funniest person ever.
And Maddy is queen and loves coffee wherever.
They both watch the Bachelor,
In fits of laughter.
And love to talk about the producer’s dramatic endeavor.

Allina is happiest on the phone with Charlie.
No, he’s not a friend but her beloved puppy.
Then there’s Kat,
She really is all that,
And she heel-clicks her way through every country.

Mack is a fan of every baby animal.
Puppies, kittens, she wants them all.
And there’s Nichol,
Who loves the brain as a whole,
And she is always ready to teach you an action potential.

Last but not least we have our squadmate Megan Small.
We are all excited to watch her leave this fall!
We’ll pray from afar,
Wherever we are,
Because no matter what, she’s a part of this family for the long haul.

I’m sure gonna miss them a whole awful lot,
But in my heart, they will always have a spot.
I love Y squad,
And truly, I’m awed,
Because they love me without a second thought.
