I don’t know about you, but I often have moments when something happens and I can’t help but think wow, that was a “God thing.” They happen quite often and I always end up smiling and looking to Heaven to thank the Lord for his goodness.

In November, there were a lot of God things that happened. One of our friends had a bike issue but thankfully, she was going home at 7 pm instead of 11 pm like she normally would so she was able to get it fixed. I told her “wow, that was a God thing” and she agreed. Then she named multiple instances from that day that she also thought were God things. I was thinking it was a God thing just to be talking about God things with an Islamic young woman in Southeast Asia.

Isn’t it funny what God can do when we move aside and let Him work?

Isn’t it amazing that God can use anyone to teach us or show us things we may have overlooked?

The World Race has been full of God things- far too many to count. Just being on this trip was a huge God thing for me and I think that is the case for a lot of my squadmates as well.

Now, we are preparing to go into another closed country. This means another month of carefully selecting our words and interacting with many people who don’t know the Lord. Another month of building relationships and loving people. Another month of letting our actions demonstarte our faith. Another month of praying for curiosity in the hearts and minds of our new friends so that they will ask questions that allow us to share even the tiniest piece of the gospel with them.

But, the best part of this month is that this will be another month of God things. He is just as present in the closed countries of Southeast Asia as He is in the Philippines and as He is in Texas. We may have limited vocabulary and a limited chnace to share he gospel but nothing can limit the presence of the Lord.

“Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.” 2 Timothy 2:8-9

The enemy will do everything in his power to bring us down and to tell us that what we are doing is worthless. He will make us feel useless. He will make us want to give up. He is strong but our God is stronger. We will recognize these attacks from the enemy as lies and continue pressing into what we have been called to do: to love people.

I have a feeling that there will be a lot more God things to report in the near future.
