Our home this month is the Guest House. This is a place that is open to all.

It is a house where we eat together, laugh together, play games together, and do life alongside one another.

It is a place where Christians and Muslims alike are welcome and truly enjoy being in one another’s company. We can dance and sing together even when we aren’t that great at either activity.

It is a place where Bible studies can be held in the living room and my room, just inches away, can be used as a Muslim prayer room.

This house is a safe place for everyone to be themselves. This is a place where we can come together as friends and talk about wildlife, fun adventures, religion, Ramadan, American slang, food, and every other topic imaginable. People come to this place for scheduled events or just to hang out.

In this house, we can come together for Friendsgiving and share an American meal together while getting to know one another. Even though we are far away from the land of Turkey Trots and Thanksgiving football, the true essence of the holiday is present.

You see, Thanksgiving is a holiday about being thankful. It is a holiday to celebrate the blessings that friends and family bring into our lives. It is all about putting aside our differences and coming together to break bread, to share a meal and be in community with one another. But you know the cool part about this place? This house brings people together all year long. The spirit of Thanksgiving and the power that it seems to have to bring people together is always present in this house. There is a place for everyone in this house.

This is truly a house of the Lord and I am right at home.
