I am far away from home serving the Lord but in this moment, it is my home that so desperately needs prayers. If anyone has been watching the news recently, you’ll see that Hurricane Harvey, a category 3 storm, is heading straight for the Texas coast which happens to be where my family lives. It is expected to make landfall overnight and some of the reports are expecting damage that is possibly on the same scale as Hurricane Katrina. My parents, grandmother, and of course the dog have evacuated inland. I ask for prayers for everyone in the path of the storm, especially the residents of Corpus Christi. I pray that God will provide shelter and his hands of protection to those who are unable to leave the city. I pray that people who have evacuated can return safely in a few days to homes, businesses, schools, and their daily lives. But, I know that whatever happens, God is still good and He will use this storm for His glory.

I’m half a world away in sunny Colombia while a storm is brewing just off the coast I will always call home and I can do nothing but wait and pray. So please, if you can, join me in prayer for protection for my hometown and anyone else in the path of the storm and for the period of uncertainty that is bound to follow.

Thank y’all and I’ll post an update in a few days after the storm has passed.
