The ministry my team is partnering with this month, Jeremiah’s Hope, has a lot of moving parts. One of the parts is a married couple, Daniel and Jana Ross, who have lived in Ukraine for the past 6 years. They work with orphans and the foster homes that Jeremiah’s Hope has. They love this ministry and everything that’s a part of it. A few nights ago (10/26/17), their house caught on fire and they lost almost everything. God woke up Daniel in time to get some things out and to make sure him and Jana were safe. They got out safely and salvaged some clothes, dishes, and odds and ends. Pretty much everything they have was taken from them in just the matter of a few hours. Since then, they have moved into a little cottage our ministry host has on his property. They are working on getting the smell of smoke out of everything they saved, and they have already been planning what they want to build to replace the old house. This new house would cost around $50,000 to build. It would be fairly similar to their old house and in the same place, but we don’t have all the details of that yet.
A big loss to them was their board game collection. They love to play board games and they use that as a ministry. Often, they’ll have people over and play a board game and get to know them. They have the staff of Jeremiah’s Hope over once a week and host a game night for everyone. We want to try to replace even just a few of their board games because that was something so fun and important to them. We have a cousin of Daniel’s as the point person in Texas, so they’ll receive it and mail it to Ukraine. If you would rather donate to an overall house fund, you can do that here. Also, prayers are so needed right now as they are dealing with the emotional effects of this and rebuilding everything.
The way they serve has touched my heart this month and they are an incredible couple of Christ that has followed His will for their lives. These two love with everything they are. Three days after the fire (10/29/17), Daniel got up early to cook french toast for my team and a whole sewing camp staying here. This is just a picture of his and Jana’s heart and how selfless they are.
